Wicked: For Good director Jon M. Chu revealed that they filmed scenes of the dancer who played Dorothy straight-on, but they were not used

Jon M. Chu is explaining why Dorothy's face wasn't shown in Wicked: For Good.

The director opened up about the second part of his adaptation of Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz's hit Broadway musical in an interview with Business Insider. While For Good takes place in the magical land first seen in the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz, which stars Judy Garland as Dorothy, she wasn't featured much in the new movie.

"At the auditions, we would put a sheet up, looking at the performer's silhouette," Chu, 46, revealed. "Through that, I was looking at how she could walk, but also, could I guide her in that way? The person had to have youthful energy, so we ultimately chose a dancer."

He also said that there are some deleted scenes showing Dorothy's face, who was ultimately played by Bethany Weaver, but they were cut.

"We had opportunities to show more, and we shot some things where you could see her face, but our intention, from the beginning, was not to show her face," Chu shared. "But was I sure of that choice? We did get options for it, but every time, it was a distraction."

"The thing we went by the whole time was something from the stage show," he added. "They told us, 'It's about the girls! Whatever is happening, it's about the girls.' So every time it drew us to, 'What does Dorothy think?' we reminded ourselves of that."

Starring Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elpheba, For Good is the second of Chu's two-part adaptation of the beloved musical — which has been playing on Broadway since 2003 and was adapted from Gregory Maguire's 1995 revisionist novel, itself inspired by L. Frank Baum's 1900 classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

For Good concludes the stories of Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba a.k.a. the Wicked Witch of the West, by tying their origins to the events of The Wizard of Oz. While Dorothy's face was never shown, it still offers glimpses of her story from the witches' perspective, from the arrival of the Kansas girl's house in Munchkinland to her throwing the bucket of water onto Elphaba (who we later learn set it out to stage her death).

Other peeks at Dorothy include when her feet are shown dangling from the clutches of a flying monkey in a close-up. She is also spotted with Toto and their three companions in the Wizard's chamber as he instructs them to hunt down Elphaba.

When it comes to Dorothy's interactions with Glinda, the witch doesn't appear to have much patience for her. Glinda even dismisses Dorothy along the yellow brick road and rolls her eyes when the young girl fails to join the Wizard as he departs in a hot air balloon.

"It's always something with her", Grande's Glinda quips, bringing Dorothy's time in Oz to its end.

More Wizard of Oz characters make an appearance in For Good as well, including the grown-up Cowardly Lion (voiced by Colman Domingo) and Fiyero's Scarecrow (Jonathan Bailey).

Seth Meyers kicked off the Thanksgiving episode with surprise guests on The Late Night Show with Seth Meyers.

The award-winning host delivered an unexpected dose of cuteness as his kids made rare appearances on his program.

On Thursday, viewers got to see his three adorable kids, sons Ashe and Axel, and his youngest, four-year-old daughter Adelaide, as they captivated the audience with their quirky personalities and undeniable charisma, just like their father.

The 51-year-old and the Meyers kids talked about random things, from dressing up in Elf costumes for the themed Thanksgiving photo to visiting Pennsylvania to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers play.

At one point, Adelaide not only made her father laugh but also the audience after describing the smell of the subway to her.

"Did you get here on the subway or in a car?" the father of three asked. The boys chimed in with "Car," but his daughter didn't hesitate to disagree: "Subway."

When he asked if she enjoyed the ride, she simply replied, "Yeah… the subway smelled like diarrhea."

Apart from their charm, the kids also showcased their dance moves, especially Axel, who jumped right in with an enthusiastic performance that had everyone laughing.

At the end of the segment, theSaturday Night Live alum couldn't stop laughing as his kids' quirky antics turned the show into a delightful whirlwind of playful chaos.

Interestingly, the festive episode quickly turned into a fan-favorite moment, with viewers flooding social media to gush over the adorable cameo.

The Meyers kids' brief takeover brought not just a perfect holiday surprise but also laughter, leaving many saying the kids completely stole the show.

"The best (& cutest) take your kids to work day ever!" one wrote.

"More than anything, he is rich in family! That house must be the funniest chaos ever," a commenter said.

"Seth, we all now know why you go day drinking. Oh my goodness.. your kids are the cutest kind of CHAOS..! Happy holidays from Seattle," another added.

The same goes for a follower who said, "This is EXACTLY how I would expect Seth Myers (sic) kids to be. Fun and full of energy. So cute."

A viewer also pointed out the relatable dad moment, noting, "There is so much love in this family! My favorite was Seth's dad moment, 'No noNO!' Gotta make sure the kids don't hit each other on camera."

Fans were raving that Seth Meyers' kids might just be the best guests in the show's history.

"Seth's most difficult yet best interview of his career," a fan noted.

"The best guests! Super surprised Lobby Baby was the least chaotic," a commenter said, referring to Axel, who was born at the lobby of their apartment building.

Seth Meyers and his wife, Alexi Ashe welcomed their first child, Ashe Olson, three years after their wedding in 2013.

In 2018, the couple welcomed their second son, Axel Strahl, followed by Adelaide Ruth in 2021.

In "Power Book IV: Force," payback is always around the corner.

The Starz crime series, executive produced by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, is near the midway point of Season 3. In the show's final chapter, Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) brings his New York demeanor to the mean streets of Chicago to solidify his status as kingpin.

In a recent interview with USA TODAY, Sikora likened his character's ambitions to those of the notorious gangster Al Capone, who also had to "claw his way to the top and then rule by any means necessary because Chicago is not a soft city."

Here's what we know about "Power Book IV: Force" episodes.

This Thanksgiving Day nightcap features an NFC North clash between the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens. Cincinnati is looking to keep its slim playoff hopes alive with the return of Joe Burrow after a lengthy absence due to turf toe. At 3-8, this is a must-win for the Bengals, while the Ravens (6-5) have climbed their way back into a tie atop the division with Pittsburgh.

Cincinnati managed just one win during Burrow's absence, and his return couldn't come at a more desperate time with their playoff odds hanging in the balance. Last week, the Bengals came up short against the Patriots, 26-20, as Drake Maye set a new career high with 294 passing yards. Between Joe Flacco and Jake Browning, the Bengals managed just 197 yards through the air. Chase Brown rushed for 107 yards, but that was not enough. Maybe Burrow's comeback will add what the Bengals have missed during his absence?

Since Lamar Jackson's return to the roster, the Ravens have gotten back on track and climbed above .500 for the first time this season, beating the New York Jets last week, 23-20. Derrick Henry had two touchdowns, while Jackson had 153 yards passing, but that was more than enough as the defense held the Jets offense to 10 points. This is Baltimore's first of two games with Cincy in the next couple of weeks.

Cincinnati has made four red-zone trips, three of which have ended in field goals, including a 33-yarder Evan McPherson made after Lamar Jackson's second fumble of the night gave the Bengals another short field.

The Ravens are fortunate they're down only one score going into halftime.

The Ravens have fumbled three times in the first half. Lamar Jackson has lost two of them.

Here, the ball slipped out of his hand as he tried to bring it back toward his body. Baltimore sure could have used the Tuck Rule there. Unfortunately for head coach John Harbaugh, it's no longer part of the NFL rulebook.

The Bengals took over at the Ravens' 19-yard line.

The Bengals are still missing Trey Hendrickson, but fellow defensive end Joseph Ossai has stepped up Thursday against the Ravens.

He's got a pair of sacks, the latest of which just took the Ravens out of field goal range.

The preceding offensive pass interference penalty on wide receiver Zay Flowers wiped his 36-yard touchdown off the board. Baltimore ends up empty-handed on the drive.

Lamar Jackson just pulled off something plenty surely tried to do during a Turkey Bowl game earlier on Thanksgiving. He retreated, stepped up, veered left, came to an abrupt stop and then fired a pass across the field to tight end Isaiah Likely for a gain of 31 yards.

Regardless, the third Evan McPherson field goal of the night, this one a 24-yarder, returned the lead to Cincinnati.

Joe Burrow's mobility was a concern coming into tonight, his first game since he went down with his toe injury in Week 2.

But he's looked fine through a quarter and change. On his most recent drive, he rolled right and found go-to receiver Ja'Marr Chase for 13 yards.

Later, he converted a sneak on fourth-and-1 at the Baltimore 32-yard line.

An improvised shovel pass got him 6 yards on the subsequent third down. That set up a 42-yard Evan McPherson field goal.

Jordan Stout is making his case for the Pro Bowl. This past weekend against the Jets, he helped the Ravens flip the field with punts of 74 and 67 yards.

Tonight against the Bengals, he just booted a 61-yarder despite being backed up in his own end zone.

Following the Bengals' turnover on downs at Baltimore's 2-yard line, the Ravens couldn't do anything with the ball.

Stout's punt, however, gives their defense a good reset.

Jaxson Dart is out of concussion protocol and expected to be back under center for the New York Giants.

The Giants said Thursday their rookie quarterback has cleared the protocol and is on track to start Monday night when they visit the New England Patriots.

Dart missed the past two games after sustaining the injury at Chicago in Week 10.

New York lost to the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions with Jameis Winston at quarterback. Winston completed 37 of 65 passes for 567 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, and he tallied a rushing and a receiving score.

The Giants (2-10) have lost six straight and are already eliminated from playoff contention. The question becomes whether the Giants' coaching staff will rein in Dart's running.

The 2025 first-round pick has been evaluated for a concussion four times this year (including preseason) and, under former coach Brian Daboll, he led the league in designed QB runs.

Interim coach Mike Kafka was calling plays even when Daboll was in charge, but reporting since Daboll's firing suggests the team will employ a more cautious approach when Dart returns. That could mean fewer keepers at the goal line and less exposure in blowout situations.

Prior to the injury, Dart completed 62.7% passes for 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions in nine games (seven starts). He added 317 rushing yards on 57 carries with seven more scores.

Injuries remain a factor beyond quarterback. The Giants didn't practice Thursday but released estimated statuses, with Dart projected as a full participant.

All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence (elbow) was listed as a projected DNP after aggravating his surgically repaired arm. Linebackers Kayvon Thibodeaux (shoulder) and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (neck/knee) were also projected as nonparticipants.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) — Kennard Davis Jr., scored 18 points and AJ Dybantsa led a second-half surge that lifted No. 9 BYU to a 72-62 win over Miami in the ESPN Events Invitational on Thursday.

The Cougars trailed by four at halftime but Dybantsa opened the second half with a jumper and had 12 points by the time 10-0 and 7-0 runs gave BYU a 59-45 lead with 6:52 to play.

Robert Wright III scored 17 points and Dybantsa added 16 with eight rebounds for the Cougars (5-1), who went 6 of 10 from 3-point range in the second half, when they shot 54.5% and made 13 of 18 free throws. Keba Keita had 10 rebounds and seven blocks to go with six points.

Malik Reneau scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Miami (5-2). Shelton Henderson added 13 points and Tre Donaldson 12.

The Hurricanes led 33-29 at halftime despite going 3 of 13 from 3-point range and 2 of 9 at the foul line. The Cougars shot 39% and missed their only two foul shots.

There were five ties and eight lead changes before a 7-0 burst in the final minute gave Miami the lead. Henderson's three-point play made it 29-27. Ernest Udeh Jr. had a tipin and Donaldson had a put back after Udeh couldn't convert a three-point play. Wright slipped in a layup at the buzzer for BYU.

BYU lost backup guard Dawson Baker to a noncontact left knee injury as he went up for a layup with 5:55 remaining in the game.
