On Nov. 26, the first four episodes of the final chapter of the beloved series premiered on Netflix. A mysterious man named Mr. Whatsit emerged as a major figure in the plot. However, his identity remained a secret for a while.

Later in the first half of Season 5, the truth of Mr. Whatsit's identity was finally revealed. Let's take a closer look at who he is.

Who Is Mr. Whatsit in Stranger Things Season 5?
In Stranger Things Season 5, the character Mr. Whatsit was introduced as an imaginary friend of Holly Wheeler (Nell Fisher). Viewers learned of him after Holly's teacher alerted her mother, Karen Wheeler (Caro Buono), to the fact that Holly had been talking to someone who wasn't there at school.

Mr. Whatsit was eventually revealed to be Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower), aka One, aka Vecna in Stranger Things Season 5.
He stalked Holly's mind and once a Deomogorgon kidnapped her—leaving her mom, Karen (Cara Buono), and her dad (Joe Chrest) gravely injured and in danger of dying—Mr. Whatsit/Henry/One/Vecna trapped Holly's consciousness in his mind. She remained trapped by the end of Episode 4.
Mr. Whatsit eventually kidnapped several other children in Hawkins as more details of his plot were uncovered. How everything fits together, though, is yet to come.
Stranger Things Season 5, Episodes 5, 6 and 7 premiere on Dec. 25 at 8 p.m. ET on Netflix, while the Season 5 finale drops at 8 p.m. ET on Dec. 31.
