Sigourney Weaver is still not over the Beatles.

The star of new movie *Avatar: Fire and Ash* mentioned the Fab Four more than once when she was given the Colbert Questionnaire on a recent episode of* The Late Show With Stephen Colbert*.

And, like everyone, she had a favorite. Hers was John Lennon — who, along with Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, formed the British rock band that famously invaded America — before he was shot and killed outside his New York City apartment building on Dec. 8, 1980, at just 40.

She confessed to Colbert, who asked whether she's ever asked for a celebrity's autograph, that she'd once written Lennon a special message.

"I wrote a several-page letter on lavender stationery with purple ink,' Weaver said. "'Dear John.' It was like five pages front and back. And I folded it up. I put an envelope, and I dropped it off at this restaurant that I heard he went to."

She couldn't recall what she's written, but she didn't seem to want to.

"I hope they threw it away," Weaver said.****In the same interview, the three-time Oscar nominated star was asked about the first concert that she attended, which was of course the Beatles.

Weaver, who's 76, thought she might have been 12 when she saw the act at the Hollywood Bowl in 1961. Colbert reminded her, however, that the act landed stateside in 1964.

What Weaver had no trouble recalling was the volume of the crowd.

"Girls screaming all around me," she said. "You couldn't hear [the Beatles] at all."

Her momentous night was captured in Ron Howard's documentary about the group, *The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years*. she noted. And Colbert showed a photo of Weaver, yes, trying to hear the "She Loves You" singers.

"The Hollywood Bowl went through all its archives, and I suddenly get an email about 10 years ago saying, 'We think this is you.' And there I am," Weaver said. "My hair is huge because I put it on beer cans all day, straightened it, and I'm wearing my one nice dress."

She admitted to letting out quiet screams every now and then because of the peer pressure she felt.

On her way out of the concert, as Weaver walked in the street with someone she'd befriended at the concert, she had what just might have been the best moment of the experience.**

A limo carrying the artists themselves rode by, and she got a wave from both Lennon and McCartney.

"I don't remember what the other two did, because we were so excited that we'd come close, like 10 feet away as the car went by," Weaver recalled. "Honestly, I think we both went home and just lay on our backs and looked at the ceiling for 24 hours."

At one point, Weaver did explain why Lennon had been her chosen favorite.

"I read in a fan magazine that he used to work at the airport for VIPs," she said. "He made a plate of sandwiches and, just before he sent them out, he'd put his shoe in them and then put it back together and put it on the platter. I thought that was so cool."**

*Avatar: Fire and Ash *is in theaters now.**

Mickey (Robert Michael Morris) and Valerie Cherish (Lisa Kudrow) on 'The Comeback' season 1 in 2005

Michael Patrick King knows there was a fine line to dance when crafting Lisa Kudrow's The Comeback character Valerie Cherish.

The fading sitcom star at the center of the co-creator's HBO comedy could easily be seen as vapid and narcissistic, but those around her who knew the real Valerie helped ground the character and showed the audience why people fell in love with her on her breakout comedy, I'm It.

And no one served that role more than Valerie's longtime hair stylist, Mickey (Robert Michael Morris).

"People fell in love with Valerie because of Mickey," King tells Entertainment Weekly. "They could see her through his eyes."

Now, as King and Kudrow prepare to bring The Comeback back for a third season after an 11-year hiatus, they will have to do so without Mickey, as Morris died in 2017 at the age of 77 after battling stage 4 melanoma.

But, King promises, the comedy will find a way to honor Morris and Mickey.

"How could you not?" he says. "You know that we're going to bring up Mickey. There has to be a way to acknowledge his absence. We tried to find a way that would not at all deny that, but also not.... Hopefully, he'll be served. It's important."

"Robert Michael was such a big, big, big, big, big, big moment. And his absence is a big loss. A big loss," he continues. "And Mickey being gone is a loss for us as well, so we'll have to address that."

The new season will see Valerie as the star of a new multi-camera sitcom called How's That?!, which is written by AI.

"But the thing we didn't want to do is the obvious joke that AI is bad. That's all been done," King recently told EW of the new storyline. "The scary thing about AI is that maybe it's learning really fast, and what does that do to our business. What does that do to our perception of what television is and what writing is, and what being an actor is? The most fun thing about Valerie in AI is all her drama has been with writers. And now what will her drama be if there are no writers?"

Get your daily dose of entertainment news, celebrity updates, and what to watch with our EW Dispatch newsletter.

Season 3 will see the return of reality show producer Jane (Laura Silverman), and Valerie's husband, Mark (Damian Young), and publicist, Billy (Dan Bucatinsky) — but also the addition of Andrew Scott as a studio head, as well as Abbi Jacobson, John Early, Tim Bagley, Matt Cook, Jack O'Brien, Ella Stiller, Barry Shabaka Henley, Tony Macht, Brittany O'Grady, Zane Phillips and Julian Stern.

The Comeback season 3 is set to debut in March on HBO.

Shack Shack launches new menu marketed towards a GLP-1 diet -

Shake Shack is now providing alternatives to their popular menu items alongside the rise in GLP-1 usage across the country

On Dec. 18, the burger hotspot launched the Good Fit Menu which offers items made with up to 52g per serving

In recent months, fast food chains including Chipotle and Olive Garden have launched menus designed for customers using the category of weight loss medications

Shake Shack is updating its menu to include classics moderated for the rise in GLP-1 culture.

Just before 2026, the popular burger chain announced its Good Fit Menu, which includes six items that put a healthy spin on the classics without the "guess work." The items are made with up to 52g of protein per serving.

According to the company's website, the Single ShackBurger, the Chicken Shack, the Double SmokeShack, the Double Veggie Shack and the Double Avocado Bacon Burger will be available in lettuce wraps. Another item is the Gluten-Free Double ShackBurger which, like its name suggests, comes prepared on gluten-free buns.

View this post on Instagram

The new menu, available to order online and at locations nationwide, was curated to provide "easy modifications from Shake Shack's core menu" and made to meet customers' various lifestyles, whether that be "dialing up protein, cutting back, or simply eating with more intention."

Shake Shack's Good Fit options fit into the Cleveland Clinic's suggested diet for GLP-1 users. What to prioritize at the table? Protein and fiber-packed meals without refined carbs. Although, the medical center states that hight-fat foods like fried chicken, or process foods can worsen the side effects of the medication.

GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic, Zepbound, Wegovy and Mounjaro have been on the rise as a treatment for weight loss among other health conditions such as diabetes. It has been especially prevalent in the celebrity world, with everyone from Oprah Winfrey to Serena Williams opening up about their use of GLP-1s.

In October 2025, data from polling giant Gallup recorded a 37% drop in Americans who qualified as "obese," the statistic previously hitting 40% in 2022.

The data also found that, as obesity rates dropped, the number of Americans who said they took GLP-1 medications for weight loss skyrocketed. Since last year alone, usage of the drugs has more than doubled, going from 5.8% in February 2024 to 12.4%.

The survey, which polled 16,946 Americans, also found that diabetes diagnoses are up, with type 1 and type 2 hitting an "all-time high" as 13.8% of respondents said they have been diagnosed with the disease, and 14.1% with diabetes said they were taking a GLP-1 for weight loss.

Other fast food chains have adapted protein-focused menus along with the shift in the latest lifestyle trends. On Dec. 18, Chipotle launched its High Protein Menu with a focus on macronutrients, while Starbucks debuted its Protein Lattes and Protein Cold Foam (with 36 grams of protein per grande beverage) in September.

On Wednesday, Dec. 31, the Poosh founder, 46, shared several photos on Instagram of her and her 13-year-old daughter's recent visit to the Gilmore Girls set. In the 10-photo carousel, the teenager appeared to be almost the same height as her famous mom as the duo toured the iconic fictional town.

"The Rory to my Lorelai," Kardashian Barker captioned photos of the two sipping tea and taking in the different sights in Stars Hollow.

The mother-daughter duo dressed comfortably for the day, with Penelope wearing jeans and a black zip-up hoodie, while Kardashian Barker wore dark jeans and a fun cardigan.

Back in July, Kardashian Barker shared a glimpse into Penelope's milestone 13th birthday celebrations in a carousel posted to Instagram.

"My little lady is 13 🥺💘," Kardashian Barker's caption began. "Being her mommy is one of the greatest things I have ever done. She inspires me to be a better person every day. I won't ever have the words for how much joy and love she brings to my life. She is the cooooolessssst 🐞."

Penelope's special day included two personalized cakes, balloons and a spectacular fireworks display, with the mother-daughter duo appearing to be marking the occasion in Italy.

In the first photo from the carousel, Penelope posed for a photo while wearing a yellow cardigan and matching shorts. She also wore a pair of glasses and carried a cowhide print handbag.

Another clip showed Penelope blowing out a large pink candle on a chocolate cake decorated with sugar roses and the words, "Happy Birthday Penelope," with the following slide showing off a second cake featuring white icing, a selection of berries and the same birthday message in pink icing.

Kardashian Barker also shared a look at the pair's picturesque vacation, with a view of a lake from a balcony and the grounds of what appeared to be a hotel. Other photos showed Penelope's hotel room bed covered in rose gold and white balloons and a series of sweet messages written on two notes.

"Turning 13!! I love you. Can't wait to celebrate you!!" read one message, while a second said, "You have the best vibe ever!"

The Kardashians star has a blended family with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, whom she married in 2022. The couple welcomed their first child, son Rocky Thirteen, in November 2023.

Kardashian Barker also shares 16-year-old son Mason, Penelope and 11-year-old son Reign with ex Scott Disick. Meanwhile, the musician shares 22-year-old son Landon and 20-year-old daughter Alabama with ex-wife Shanna Moakler. He also has a very close bond with 26-year-old stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya, the daughter of Moakler and boxing champ Oscar De La Hoya.

During a February 2025 episode of The Kardashians, Kardashian Barker opened up about how their family has adjusted to living under one roof.

"I feel like blending, in the beginning, is a lot of adjusting for each person," she said at the time. "Us in their space and then us being out of our space and into a new space. But it's really good, but I do want to get this going. And my stepkids have lived in their home for their whole lives. It's new, all living together in one house, which is nice. It is change, but I think we're at a really amazing place with it."

MTV shut down five of its music channels in the United Kingdom.

The television channel officially stopped broadcasting on its MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV and MTV Live channels in the country on Wednesday, Dec. 31, according to multiple reports, after reports of the move first surfaced in October. 24-hour music channels in other countries are also said to be off-air.

BBC journalist Jono Read captured MTV Music's final moments in an X post on Wednesday. The station ended its run with The Buggles' 1979 single "Video Killed the Radio Star" – the first video ever to air on MTV – followed by a sign-off animation. At the bottom, a news ticker read: "MTV Music is now closed. Continue watching over at MTV."

USA TODAY has reached out to MTV for comment.

The flagship U.K. station MTV HD remains on air, and its American MTV channels – including MTV, MTV2, MTV Live, MTV Classic and MTV Tres – are unaffected.

Four decades after the revolutionary station aired music videos 24/7, MTV's decision is a further sign of the times. MTV's flagship channel began increasingly circulating reality-show-heavy programming in the 2000s with series like "The Real World," "Teen Mom" and "Jersey Shore." The network's sister channels feature more music-centered content, though with significantly less reach, distribution and revenue.

In 2023, MTV shuttered its music news division and website, MTV News. Its campus-centered offshoot, MTVU, ceased airing at universities in 2018, and currently airs only as a digital cable channel.

MTV turns 40: Iconic music videos we watched on the network that brought music to TV

MTV changed the television landscape with its launch in 1981, playing music around the clock and related programming guided by video jockeys, or VJs, and was influential in the growth of the music video as an artistic medium. The channel also evolved in the genres of music videos it promoted. MTV moved from rock to pop and R&B – and later, hip-hop – after it broke its own color barrier in the 1980s with the promotion of Michael Jackson's music videos for "Billie Jean" and "Thriller."

Melissa Joan Hart has opened up about being blindsided by two devastating career blows within hours, calling it the worst day of her life.

On December 10, the 49-year-old star appeared on Betches' Picture Day and revisited a photo from 1999, where she posed with Britney Spears at the premiere of Drive Me Crazy.

Apparently, the actress was fired from one project for not being "s*xy enough", while nearly losing another for not being family-friendly enough, all thanks to a bold Maxim Magazine cover shoot.

"If you look at my eyes, they're very bloodsh*t because this was what I would consider, if you read my book, one of the worst days of my life at the time," she said.

During the podcast, Melissa Joan Hart recalled that the night unfolded as she was juggling press at the premiere with plans to fly to Vancouver immediately after to begin filming Scary Movie.

As she headed to the airport, Hart received a call in the limo telling her to turn around immediately, as she had been let go from the project.

One of the producers told her she didn't physically fit their version of the character.

Image credits: By Robin Platzer/Twin Images/Getty Images

"They decided when I did the fitting that I didn't have big enough b**bs for that part," she explained.

Hart had been cast to play an opening parody role, a nod to Drew Barrymore's famous Scream scene. The role later went to Carmen Electra.

While Hart tried to remain calm, the timing only made it worse, as she had already been crying over leaving her family behind to film the movie.

But her worst day wasn't over yet.

The 49-year-old star was nearly fired from Sabrina the Teenage Witch over her Maxim photoshoot in 1999

When Hart returned to the premiere after learning the sad news, she was met by her lawyer with an even more devastating update.

"While I'm at the party, my lawyer shows up and goes, 'You did a photo shoot for Maxim magazine?' I'm like: 'Yes, I did.' They're like: 'Well, you're being sued and fired from your show, so don't talk to the press, don't do anything.'"

She added, "So I get a phone call on my cell phone from my mother, my producer, who was like, 'What did you do?', and I was like, 'I don't know, whatever my publicist told me to do at the photo shoot. I did a photo shoot for Maxim! It's Maxim, of course, you're gonna be in your underwear."

It was revealed that the photoshoot featured the tagline, "Sabrina, your favorite witch without a stitch," which was deemed inappropriate by executives tied to the show's family-friendly branding.

Believing the role that had defined her career was over, she later explained the accusation stemmed from a contractual clause stating she would never portray the character n*de.

"So then I really started crying," Hart said, recalling how her father eventually found her and hugged her after the premiere ended. "I don't see my dad often, so for him to hug me? It just broke me."

Though the situation was later resolved after she penned an apology letter, Hart kept her role on Sabrina for four seasons.

Fans praised Melissa Joan Hart for staying true to herself and aging naturally

Not everyone was sympathetic to Hart's trip down memory lane. After the podcast aired, some critics were quick to dismiss her "worst day" as a product of celebrity privilege.

"Lol that's one of the worst days of your life? Man, that's just a normal bad day. Celebrities are hilarious," one user scoffed.

Others were even more blunt about her firing, with one writing, "The movie was terrible so you didn't miss anything there," while another added, "That's the business. Tough it up or find a new career."

Despite the harsh feedback, the majority of fans have rallied around Hart's honesty and her refusal to alter herself to meet Hollywood's ever-changing expectations.

Several online users praised her for aging naturally, as one wrote, "She looks beautiful, youthful, and easily recognizable from her Clarissa photo from 31 years ago. It seems not messing with your face really is the best way to go."

"We love to see real aging," wrote another.

Others expressed admiration for her longevity in the industry, with one writing, "I'm glad that you have come a long way and done a very good job with your acting career. You are awesome."

"I've always admired this actress, she is real, down to earth, and not afraid to speak her mind," said one netizen
