Among the many parks in Southern California are the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, and Malibu Lagoon State Beach.

Tips for visiting museums in Southern California for free
Many museums in California are part of Museums for All, a nationwide initiative that allows people receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits — known as CalFresh in the state — to get free or reduced admission to hundreds of museums by presenting their EBT card.
That includes places like Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla. Also, some of the participating museums in this year's Museums Free-for-All always offer free admission, like The Broad in Los Angeles.
Additionally, some museums offer free admission on select days for county residents. For example, the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana offers free admission for county residents on Sundays.
