Let's be real…surfing through Netflix's library might sound like a relaxing night-in, but three remote clicks later, you're lost in a rabbit hole of endless options. Sometimes, you just want a movie that's not for kids, but also not too intense — something comfortably in between.

Don't worry, we've already done the hard work for you. If you're looking for a solid PG-13 movie, we've picked some excellent titles that span a wide range of genres, from comedies like *Always Be My Maybe* to action-packed films like *Godzilla Minus One*.

Here are **'s picks for the best PG-13 movies on Netflix.

Always Be My Maybe (2019)

Ali Wong as Sasha Tran and Randall Park as Marcus Kim in 'Always Be My Maybe'

Most people would rather avoid running into their high-school sweetheart, but Sasha Tran (Ali Wong) and Marcus Kim (Randall Park) — childhood friends–turned–one-time fling–turned–strangers — don't get that choice. Now a thirtysomething celebrity chef, Sasha returns to San Francisco to open a new restaurant and crosses paths with Marcus, who shows up to install her air conditioning in her interim home. With sparks still flying 15 years later, they decide to give their friendship a second go (and, well, you can guess where it goes from there).

Directed by *Fresh Off the Boat*'s creator, Nahnatchka Khan, *Always Be My Maybe* is a sharply written, self-aware rom-com that offers multi-dimensional Asian American representation, fabulous fashion, and sizzling chemistry between Park and Wong. (Plus, you get to see Keanu Reeves in a rom-com for the first time since 2009's *The Private Lives of Pippa Lee*.) —*James Mercadante*

Judy Blume's seminal coming-of-age novel about girlhood and the highs and lows of puberty was finally adapted to the big screen 53 years after its release. Set in 1970, this moving drama follows the titular Margaret (Abby Ryder Fortson), a tween who often ponders life's great mysteries through prayers to God, while struggling with her changing body and priorities. Featuring stellar, lived-in performances from Forston and Rachel McAdams as her warm-hearted mother, this film adaptation was well worth the wait. —*Kevin Jacobsen*

Clueless (1995)

Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz in 'Clueless'

Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz in 'Clueless'.

Paramount Pictures

The '90s were a renaissance period for teen social satires, from *Cruel Intentions* to *But I'm a Cheerleader*. But we would be, well, *clueless* if we didn't include this brilliant comedy among the best representations of '90s teen life. A loose adaptation of Jane Austen's *Emma*, the film revolves around Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone), a popular, fabulously styled high schooler who enjoys her self-appointed role as tastemaker and matchmaker, though she soon finds herself reexamining her priorities. EW's critic originally gave *Clueless* a C+, but, three decades later, we think that's way harsh, Tai. —*K.J.***

Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

Constance Wu as Rachel Chu and Koh Chieng Mun as Neenah Goh in 'Crazy Rich Asians'

Constance Wu as Rachel Chu and Koh Chieng Mun as Neenah Goh in 'Crazy Rich Asians'. Warner Bros. Pictures

Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, *Crazy Rich Asians* made history not only as the highest-grossing romantic comedy of the 2010s but also as the first major Hollywood film set in modern times to feature an all-Asian cast since 1993's *The Joy Luck Club*. *Crazy Rich Asians* follows Rachel Chu (Constance Wu), an NYU professor who travels with her dashing boyfriend Nick (Henry Golding) to Singapore for the wedding of Nick's best friend. Rachel soon realizes that Nick comes from an uber-rich family, and finds it difficult to live up to the high expectations of his mother, Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh).**** While the film has more than its fair share of rom-com tropes (class differences, sassy sidekick, makeover montage, etc.), it's hard to get mad when the ensemble cast is so strong and the visuals are to die for. As EW's critic describes, it's "two hours of romantic fantasy and real-estate porn poured on so thick it's almost lickable." —*K.J.***** Where to watch *Crazy Rich Asians*: Netflix******EW grade:** B

This poignant documentary is a testament to the special bond between fathers and daughters. The film follows four young girls and their incarcerated fathers as they get ready for a special Date With Dad weekend held at the prison. The main highlight is the Daddy Daughter Dance, and the doc centers on the daughters' point of view as they grapple with their hopes, fears, and understandable sadness over being separated from their fathers. There are a lot of ways in which *Edge of Tomorrow* could've been disposable, from the genericness of its title to its familiar time loop conceit. But director Doug Liman crafted gold with this thrilling slice of sci-fi action entertainment, set in a distant future where an alien species threatens humanity's extinction. Tom Cruise stars as Maj. William Cage, a PR officer thrust onto the frontlines who repeatedly dies in combat only to wake up the previous morning. EW's critic praises the film as a "deliciously subversive kind of blockbuster" as well as the performances by Cruise and costar Emily Blunt, who plays a badass sergeant who joins Cage in his time-hopping battle. —*K.J.*

Enola Holmes (2020)

A long-neglected member of the Holmes family finally gets her story told. When Enola Holmes' (Millie Bobby Brown) mother goes missing, she seeks help from crime-sleuthing brothers, Sherlock (Henry Cavill) and Mycroft (Sam Claflin), who are more concerned about her etiquette than her solving mysteries. So, Enola decides to break the mold and outsmart her brothers by finding her mother herself.

*Enola Holmes *is a zany feminist reimagining of the Holmes canon, full of fourth-wall breaks that are perfectly executed by Brown, who EW's critic describes as "cheeky and spritely in the role…[with] a self-possessed quality that grounds the performance." *—Madeline Cisneros*

Kathryn Hahn as Claire Debella, Madelyn Cline as Whiskey, Edward Norton as Miles Bron, Leslie Odom Jr. as Lionel Toussaint, and Kate Hudson as Birdie Jay in 'Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery'. Netflix

Det. Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is back at it again in this sequel to the 2019 sensation *Knives Out*. In *Glass Onion*, Blanc finds himself on tech billionaire Miles Bron's (Edward Norton) private Greek island to solve a fictional murder mystery with Bron's oddball friends coined "the Disruptors." But when the game becomes real, it's up to the detective to crack the case.

Per EW's critic, Craig trades "MI6 and martinis for neatly knotted neckerchiefs and Foghorn Leghorn bon mots — and he seems to revel in it, leaning happily into the pure camp of being Benoit." The star-studded cast including Janelle Monáe, Dave Bautista, and more should be enough motivation to give this movie a go. *—M.C.*

Set in Japan after World War II, the film centers on a former pilot who struggles with PTSD after failing to stop Godzilla from wreaking havoc on his Odo Island base. Years later, the guilt-ridden pilot is spurred to join the effort to stop the monster once and for all.

EW's critic ranks *Minus One* as the fourth-best *Godzilla* movie ever made, praising its blend of "sweeping blend of character-driven drama, maritime adventure, and kaiju mayhem" and calling it "popcorn entertainment at its best." There's a reason it became the first Godzilla movie to not only be nominated at the Oscars but to win, taking home the prize for Best Visual Effects. —*K.J.***

As Ellie helps Paul, the two form an unlikely bond that includes watching late-night movies together and eating taco sausages.

*The Half of It* is described by EW's critic as an "examination of first love, and how our messy, well-intentioned attempts to do right by our own hearts can both wound and help us fumble toward the people we're meant to be." —*M.C.*

While Martin Luther King Jr. is a household name, his advisor — Bayard Rustin, who taught him the principles of nonviolent protest — has historically slipped through the cracks. Helmed by *Ma Rainey's Black Bottom* director George C. Wolfe and produced by Michelle and Barack Obama, *Rustin* chronicles this unsung hero's efforts to mobilize the 1973 March on Washington while also holding his own amid public scrutiny of his sexuality.

Though this biopic follows a middle-of-the-road formula, Colman Domingo's Academy Award-nominated portrayal of the gay civil rights activist is what truly sets the film apart. As EW's critic wrote, "Domingo infuses Rustin with a warmth and vibrancy that creates a performance of immense empathy.... His portrait of a man fighting for both his race and his sexuality feels incredibly personal and helps hammer home Rustin's commitment to true 'justice for all.'" *—J.M.*

Like many lovestruck teens, awkward 15-year-old Conor (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) goes to great lengths to earn the affection of his aspiring model crush: He invites her to star in a music video for his nonexistent band. To corroborate his trumped-up tale, Conor assembles a ragtag group of surprisingly talented misfits to create a Duran Duran-esque glam-rock ensemble. Set in 1985 Dublin, *Sing Street* spins an earnest, multilayered story about taking control over your destiny. Despite being overshadowed by the same year's much-hyped *La La Land*, this sleeper movie musical is a hit with tracks you'll catch yourself singing days later. —*J.M.*

As Jonathan reaches his 30th birthday, he fears that his time is running out to make his dreams come to reality.

Raised to be independent and observant, the teenager is a misfit in traditional Victorian society. When her mother goes missing, Enola embarks on an off-the-books adventure to solve a mystery, help a runaway lord, and prove that she can be just as accomplished and exceptional as her brother.

EW's critic sang praises for the film, writing that "While the mystery might be elementary (my dear, notably absent, Watson), the storytelling is winkingly subversive, proclaiming that a new and welcome game is afoot." *—Danny Horn*

As the party turns deadly, Bron's frenemies turn on each other.

At the start of *Handsome*, an actor introduces himself to the audience, explaining that he plays the murderer in this movie. That's your cue that this comedy-mystery is more about the laughs than the chills. Jeff Garlin (*Curb Your Enthusiasm*) wrote, directed, and stars in this silly cop spoof, which also includes Natasha Lyonne, Amy Sedaris, and Steven Weber (as the murderer). When a babysitter is dismembered and arranged on a suburban lawn, Garlin's Detective Handsome leaps into action, questioning eccentrics and generally not making a lot of progress. *—D.H.*

The couple meets a half-dozen colorful suspects before the mayhem begins, starting with the uncle's death by stabbing and later encompassing a shooting, a poisoning, and even a blow-dart killing purely for style points. When a student at West Point in the 1830s is found hanging from a tree with his heart cut out, the authorities call for investigator Augustus Landor (Christian Bale). Arriving on campus, Landor finds an unlikely partner in Edgar Allan Poe (Harry Melling), a young cadet with an uncanny understanding of the macabre.

The central victory of this period mystery is the winning performances, with EW's critic writing, "The movie is mostly a study in how good its two main actors can be: Melling's Poe, wearing his tell-tale heart on his sleeve, seems to melt something in Bale, whose dour detective becomes almost playful in his presence." *—D.H.*

Reptile (2023)

Benicio Del Toro as Tom Nichols and Alicia Silverstone as Judy Nichols in 'Reptile'

Daniel McFadden/Netflix/Courtesy Everett Collection

Benicio Del Toro heads this slow-burn noir as police detective Tom Nichols, an experienced cop who's looking into the murder of a young realtor. Justin Timberlake plays the victim's boyfriend, and other suspects include an ex-husband, a vengeance-minded neighbor, and a shady real estate conglomerate. The somewhat overwrought soundtrack brings extra tension to what would otherwise be routine procedural scenes, pervading the film with an ever-present gloom. Then there's Alicia Silverstone as Tom's wife Judy, who lightens the tone with warmth; the movie could have used a lot more of her charm. *—D.H.*

**Cast: **Benicio Del Toro, Justin Timberlake, Eric Bogosian, Alicia Silverstone

Shimmer Lake (2017)

Benjamin Walker as Sheriff Zeke Sikes in 'Shimmer Lake'

Benjamin Walker as Sheriff Zeke Sikes in 'Shimmer Lake'.

Netflix/Everett

A clever piece of clockwork plotting, *Shimmer Lake* unfolds in reverse chronological order, telling the story of a small-town bank robbery gone terribly wrong. Sheriff Zeke Sikes (Benjamin Walker) leads the investigation, which includes his twitchy brother Andy (Rainn Wilson) as a suspect. We follow the case backward from Friday to Tuesday, piecing together a complex, darkly comic misadventure involving a mixed bag of eccentric sleuths and clueless co-conspirators. It all makes sense once the final twist is revealed, but the film requires careful attention to follow its winding (or unwinding?) plot. *—D.H.*

Where to watch *Shimmer Lake*: Netflix

**Director:** Oren Uziel

**Cast:** Benjamin Walker, Rainn Wilson, Rob Corddry, Adam Pally, Ron Livingston

They Cloned Tyrone (2023)

John Boyega as Fontaine, Teyonah Parris as Yo-Yo, and Jamie Foxx as Slick Charles in 'They Cloned Tyrone'

John Boyega as Fontaine, Teyonah Parris as Yo-Yo, and Jamie Foxx as Slick Charles in 'They Cloned Tyrone'.

Parrish Lewis/Netflix

This wild mystery comedy combines the brilliant social satire of *Us *(2019) with the sci-fi leanings of *The Twilight Zone* with a healthy dose of Blaxploitation-style entertainment. John Boyega stars as Fontaine, a drug dealer who is killed by a rival during a transaction — only to wake up the next day as if nothing happened. After enlisting one of his customers (Jamie Foxx) and a sex worker (Teyonah Parris), they uncover a bizarre conspiracy involving — you guessed it — cloning technology in their local community. It's a bold swing, but one that certainly connects, particularly when you have Foxx delivering one of his most hilarious, scene-stealing performances. —*K.J.***

Where to watch *They Cloned Tyrone*: Netflix

**Director:** Juel Taylor

**Cast:** John Boyega, Teyonah Parris, Jamie Foxx

Wicked Little Letters (2024)

Olivia Colman as Edith Swan and Gemma Jones as Victoria Swan in 'Wicked Little Letters'

Olivia Colman as Edith Swan and Gemma Jones as Victoria Swan in 'Wicked Little Letters'.

Sony Pictures Classics

This British mystery comedy, based on true events, is as deliciously naughty as its title suggests. Olivia Colman stars as Edith Swan, a repressed, religious Englishwoman who lives with her parents in 1920s Britain. After receiving a series of profane letters in the mail, her family seeks answers and accuses their Irish neighbor — a single mother named Rose (Jessie Buckley) — causing a scandal around their seaside town of Littlehampton. Yes, it's comparatively low stakes compared to other films on this list, but it's good cheeky fun ideally watched on a lazy Sunday afternoon. —*K.J.***

Where to watch *Wicked Little Letters*: Netflix

**Director:** Thea Sharrock

**Cast:** Olivia Colman, Jessie Buckley, Anjana Vasan, Joanna Scanlan, Gemma Jones, Malachi Kirby, Lolly Adefope, Eileen Atkins, Timothy Spall

Anna (Amy Adams), an agoraphobic child psychologist, spends her days locked inside her home and gazing out the second-story window. She makes friends with Jane Russell (Jennifer Jason Leigh), who lives across the street, and soon after, she watches in horror as her neighbor is brutally stabbed. When Anna reports the crime, she's shocked to encounter a different woman claiming to be Jane Russell, and the woman's family insists the changeling is the real thing. Anna's struggle to hang on to her sanity is sometimes over the top, but patient viewers are rewarded with a powerful shock ending. *—D.H.*

Netflix/Courtesy Everett Collection

In a remote Irish village in 1862, 11-year-old Anna (Kíla Lord Cassidy) has survived without eating for four months, an apparently miraculous occurrence that divides the town. Thus, a nurse (Florence Pugh) is summoned from England to watch the girl and determine whether this is a sacred event or a hoax. Inspired by the Victorian phenomenon of "the fasting girls," this tense drama is anchored by Pugh's reliably dynamic performance, who EW's critic declared to be "pretty much perfectly cast, an actress with such a keen emotional presence that she tends to cut through pretense and triviality like a hot knife." *—D.H.*

Actor George Clooney told "CBS Sunday Morning" that he doesn't regret writing the New York Times opinion piece calling on former President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 election.

CBS News correspondent Seth Doane asked the Academy Award-winning actor whether he would have written the essay again, knowing President Donald Trump was re-elected. Clooney said he would, but added that he felt it was a mistake to run with Vice President Kamala Harris without going through a primary.

"We had a chance. I wanted there to be, as I wrote in the op-ed, a primary," Clooney said. "Let's battle-test this quickly and get it up and going. I think the mistake with it being Kamala is she had to run against her own record. It's very hard to do if the point of running is to say, 'I'm not that person.' It's hard to do, and so she was given a very tough task. I think it was a mistake, quite honestly."

He continued, "But, we are where we are. We were gonna lose more House seats, they say. So, I don't know. To not do it would be to say, 'I'm not gonna tell the truth.'"

Clooney, a longtime Democratic fundraiser, called on Biden to drop out of the race in a July 2024 essay after Biden's performance during his only presidential debate against Trump.

"It's devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe 'big F-ing deal' Biden of 2010. He wasn't even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate," Clooney wrote.

George Clooney withdrew his support for President Joe Biden in an opinion piece for The New York Times opinion piece in July 2024.

Biden dropped out of the race a couple of weeks after the essay was published.

During the interview, Clooney also responded to Hunter Biden's profanity-laced tirade against him in which he accused the actor of lying about his father's mental state and sabotaging his campaign on behalf of the Obama team.

"I could spend a lot of time debunking many of the things he said because many of the things he said were just outright lies: Obama didn't put me up to it, it wasn't my fundraiser, it was my fundraiser — all the things," Clooney said.

George Clooney Calls Breaking With Biden In 2024 His 'Civic Duty,' Says Democrats Weren't Telling Truth

George Clooney said running Vice President Kamala Harris without a primary was a "mistake."

He continued, "But the reality is, I don't think looking backwards like that is helpful to anyone, particularly to him. I don't think it's helpful for the Democratic Party, and so I'm just gonna wish him well on his ongoing recovery and I hope he does well and just leave it at that. I have many personal opinions about it, but I don't find it to be helpful to have a public spat with him."

Show star Steven Weber revealed the behind-the-scenes trivia while appearing on a recent episode of the One Chicago Podcast

Chicago Med airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m ET on NBC and is also available for streaming on Peacock

A major character on the hit NBC show Chicago Med was only ever supposed to last a few episodes — at least according to castmember Steven Weber.

Weber, 64, appeared on the Oct. 30 episode of the One Chicago Podcast to discuss his character, Dr. Dean Archer, as well as some of his favorite behind-the-scenes moments on the medical drama. During the conversation, the actor revealed a major piece of fan trivia: His character was initially supposed to be killed off after just a few episodes when he first appeared in season 6.

"The character was a guy who was a naval surgeon, who had been to Afghanistan, had been wounded, had PTSD, and in fact, at the end of this arc was going to do some self-harm. He was not good up here," Weber said, motioning to his head.

"He was suffering and had untreated trauma, and at the end of this guy's story, he was not gonna make it," he revealed.

Weber said that he was eager to take on the role at the time, despite his seemingly limited appearance on the series.

"I was kind of excited about that character. That was dark and interesting, and I was going to apply some things that I'd known," he said, adding that he based a lot of the character on his father, who was a Korean war veteran.

"I was going to do some research and do what I thought was going to be just a good, nice little gig," he continued.

Weber went on to say that if fans of the show go back and rewatch his initial episodes, they will see clues that Dr. Archer wasn't ever supposed to be a series regular.

"He was doing a couple of things that now, basically in the canon of the show, we've sort of conveniently forgotten about. I mean, at one point, I think I took out some guy's kidney without his approval. I sedated him, pulled it out. It was really dark, and that's why he was gonna kind of end," he said.

However, he explained that the show's writers ultimately realized that the character had more potential.

"Halfway through [the initial arc], I think they decided that this character had more depth and appeal and possibilities beyond where they were gonna take him. And so after that, they decided not to end the character, and they brought me back the next season for a number of [episodes]. And then from there, it sort of got longer," he recalled.

Weber was promoted to series regular the following season, and he has since appeared on the show for five seasons. The abrasive, yet good-hearted Dr. Archer even eventually became head of the emergency department.

Season 11 of Chicago Med premiered on Oct. 1. The show airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m ET on NBC and is also available for streaming on Peacock.

Manny Jacinto still can't quite believe how far he's come.

The Freakier Friday and Star Wars: The Acolyte star, 38, caught up with PEOPLE exclusively during the TIME100 Next Gala at Chelsea Piers in New York City on Thursday, Oct. 30. During the conversation, Jacinto shared that his younger self would never believe how his life has turned out.

"If I told him that I was here [at the TIME100 event], he'd be like, 'What are you talking about, man? You should be in an office in front of a computer being an engineer or something,' " the Nine Perfect Strangers actor says.

"But no, he wouldn't believe me for sure. It's wild that I get to be here, so I'm taking in every single moment," Jacinto adds.

Jacinto also reflected on another major milestone in his life: the upcoming 10-year anniversary of the premiere of The Good Place, in which he played fan-favorite character Jason Mendoza in all four seasons of the show.

"Thank goodness for that show because I was able to buy groceries," he says, adding, "I just remember living in a five-bedroom house with a bunch of nurses and just trying to make it work. [...] When that audition came through and when I was able to get that [part], [it] changed my life, It really did."

"[There were] so many special moments," he recalls.

"Getting to work with Ted [Danson] for the first time, meeting Kristen [Bell] and all the babies in the crew, whether it be Jameela [Jamil] or D'Arcy [Carden] and Will [Jackson Harper]. And just being on the lot in Universal and seeing the trams go by — so many special moments," he continues.

Jacinto previously opened up about another major career milestone: appearing in the 2022 Tom Cruise-led blockbuster, Top Gun: Maverick.

The actor played LT Billy "Fritz" Avalone, though he only appeared in the background of a few scenes — something which caused some waves among his fans.

"It's flattering that there was a little bit of an outcry," Jacinto said in a July 2024 interview with GQ, adding, "But it wasn't shocking to me."

"There was this sense of where the film was going [on set], like I [could] see them focusing the camera more on these [other] guys and not taking so much time on our scenes," he explained.

"Fortunately, it still was a great experience — you get to see this huge machine at work, see how Tom Cruise works, and you get to be a small part of this huge franchise," he continued.

— sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

The Acolyte star noted that the experience ultimately pushed him as a working actor and artist, inspiring him to want to create more roles for himself and other Asian-American actors.

"It kind of fuels you, because at the end of the day, Tom Cruise is writing stories for Tom Cruise. It's up to us — Asian Americans, people of color — to be that [for ourselves]. We can't wait for somebody else to do it. If we want bigger stories out there, we have to make them for ourselves," he said.
