ABC News In 2022, Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison for tax evasion, conspiracy and bank and wire fraud President Donald Trump pardoned them in 2025 The couple, along with their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, gave their first interviews to FOX News and ABC News a month after their release Todd ChrisleyandJulie Chrisleyhave a lot to say about their time behind bars. TheChrisley Knows Bestreality stars were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison after beingfound guiltyof bank and wire fraud, tax evasion and conspiracy in 2022. Though they denied the accusations, theyreported to separate prisonsto begin their sentences in 2023. After serving a little over two years, PresidentDonald Trumppardoned the couplefollowing a public campaign by their daughter,Savannah Chrisley. Todd, Julie and Savannah gave their first public interviews with FOX News and ABC News a month after their release on June 28 and 29, respectively. In the ABC News Studio's IMPACT X Nightline special, titledThe Chrisleys: Life After Lockup, Todd told host Juju Chang that he was "angry at God" during that first night in prison. "When I went to bed that night and the lights went out, I cried myself to sleep," he told Chang. "I said, 'God, why are you allowing this?' " The Chrisley patriarch went on to say that his time in prison helped him realize things he took for granted — like his ability to go to church, eat out or lounge in bed all day — and added that getting those little things back was "a blessing." Here are the 11 biggest bombshells from the Chrisley family's first interviews since prison. Danielle Del Valle/Getty When Chang asked the couple if they felt safe, Julie said that while she didn't fear that a person would harm her, she worried that the prison's conditions might. The reality star claimed that she developed asthma while incarcerated and "horrible breathing issues" that she didn't have prior. "I could see my health deteriorating," she said. "Things I never had an issue with before, now all of a sudden, became an issue." Michael Tran/FilmMagic After reporting to prison in January 2023, Todd was housed in a Florida prison while Julie was incarcerated at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Ky. The couple didn't see each otherfor two years. When they reunited in May 2025, Julie said that she was "a little nervous" to see her husband again. But when she saw him, she said, "It was as if no time had passed." "She was never away from me," Todd said in the interview. "Even the whole time we were apart. She was with me every second, every breath that I took. I mean, when I saw her, I was grateful to wrap my arms around her, but it was just more like, 'I'm home.' " Cynthia Hicks/USA Network/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Todd and Julie told Chang that one of the most emotional moments of their release was reuniting with their daughter,Chloe Chrisley(whom theylegally adopted in 2016from Todd's son Kyle due to his ongoing struggles with substance abuse). The 12-year-old was so eager for her parents' return that she tracked their locations all the way home. "You know, even though we had gotten to see each other [during visitations], it's not the same as when you're home," Julie said inThe Chrisleys: Life After Lockup. "On our way home, she was literally watching on her phone — she was tracking where we were — to know how close I was." USA Network/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty During the Chrisleys' June 28 appearance onMy View with Lara Trump, Todd revealed that their son, Grayson, wanted tosleep in their roomthe first night they were back from prison. Savannah also recalled the evening, saying, "The first night he said, 'I'm scared to go to sleep because I feel like I'm just going to wake up in the morning and they're not going to be here.' " Cythina Hicks/USA Network/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Todd told Chang that while his family will "always have a presence in Nashville," theyplan to relocateto Charleston, S.C. The historic city is where Todd and Julie are originally from. "I have a pull for Julie and I to go back to South Carolina — to Charleston — to that area," the Chrisley patriarch said. "And we have plans for what we wanna do." According to Todd, their plans for Charleston include renovating a mansion into a hotel and documenting the process for a reality series. As for Savannah, she said that she planned tomove outof the family's 5,000-square-foot Nashville home and into a condo. ABC News/Youtube Todd's former business associate, Mark Braddock, testified during their trial that he helped the couple falsify documents. In the ABC interview, Todd alleged that Braddock was the one who wrote the emails to their accountant asking about faking documents after hacking into his account. Braddock didn't appear inLife After Lockup, but denied being the mastermind behind the fraud during the trial. During the trial, Braddock also claimed that his relationship with Todd was more than just professional and said that they had been romantically involved. InLife After Lockup, Todd denied those accusations. "He's never approached me in that manner," he said. "Well, if I was going to do that, it wouldn't be with somebody that was broke. It wouldn't be with somebody that looks like him." Tommy Garcia/USA Network/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty In addition to prison time, Julie and Todd were also sentenced to pay a combined $17 million in restitution. Though they told Chang that they paid some of that money, the family said they planned to try to get that money back. "We were convicted by a jury of our peers — were we?" Todd asked in the interview. "I didn't see multi-millionaires in that jury box. I didn't see people that were in the film industry in that jury box." He continued, "I saw people in a heavily Democratic county and a judge allowed them to paint us as these white family who has white entitlement and who has money to burn." DOMINIC GWINN/Middle East Images/AFP via Getty When Chang asked the family whether Savannah might havea future in politics— given her speech at the 2024 Republican National Convention and two years spent campaigning for her parents' release — Todd said they were "kind of thinking yes." "There's been some talk of a congressional run," Savannah said. "I don't know if that will or will not be the thing that I do or if it's what I'm called to do. But also, I believe right now my goal is to speak to younger voters." David Livingston/Getty When speaking withLara Trump, Todd opened up about his mission to help the men he met while incarcerated. "They have no support," he said. "And we incarcerate more individuals in our country than anywhere else in the world, yet we have the highest recidivism rate. That should tell you that what we're doing is not working." He added that there is currently "no accountability for the $8.2 billion that's dumped into the Bureau of Prisons" annually. "Accountability is coming," Todd said. "So for all of my brothers that I left behind, I didn't leave you behind. I'm coming for you." Santiago Felipe/Getty The Chrisley family still maintains their innocence, and Todd even went as far to say that hedoesn't owe anyonean apology. "Why am I not allowed to have the benefit of the fruits of our labor?" he asked Chang. "I don't have an apology to give you or anyone else over the money that I've made." France shuts schools, Italy limits outdoor work as heatwave grips EuropeNew Foto - France shuts schools, Italy limits outdoor work as heatwave grips Europe

By Emma Pinedo PARIS/MADRID (Reuters) -Several Italian regions banned outdoor work during the hottest hours of the day, France shut scores of schools and Spain confirmed last month as its hottest June on record as a severe heatwave gripped Europe, triggering widespread health alerts. Spanish authorities were investigating whether a street sweeper's death over the weekend in Barcelona was caused by the heatwave and trade unions blamed the heat for the death on Monday of a 47-year-old man on a construction site near Bologna. Europe is the world's fastest-warming continent, heating up at twice the global average, according to the EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service, with extreme heatwaves occurring earlier in the year, and persisting into later months. "What is exceptional, and I would stress exceptional but not unprecedented is the time of year," said World Meteorological Organization spokesperson Clare Nullis. "We are the first of July and we are seeing episodes of extreme heat which normally we would see later on in the summer. Higher temperatures in the Mediterranean Sea tend "to reinforce the extreme temperatures over land areas," she said. The Mediterranean Sea was up to 6 degrees Celsius warmer than usual for the time of year, hitting a record of as much as 30 C (86 F) in Spain's Balearic Sea as a heat dome trapped hot air above Europe, the country's AEMET weather forecaster said. Spain recorded its hottest June last month, with an average temperature of 23.6 C, AEMET said. The Red Cross has set up an air-conditioned "climate refuge" in southern Malaga, said IFRC spokesperson Tommaso Della Longa, to help residents cope with the searing temperatures. Extreme heat kills up to 480,000 people annually around the world, according to Swiss Re, which notes this exceeds the combined toll from floods, earthquakes and hurricanes. HEALTH ALERTS The heat was set to peak in France on Tuesday, reaching 40-41 C in some areas and 36-39 C in many others, weather forecaster Meteo France said. Sixteen departments will be on the highest level of alert from noon, with 68 on the second highest. Some 1,350 schools were fully or partially closed, up from around 200 on Monday, the Education Ministry said. The top floor of the Eiffel Tower will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, with visitors advised to drink plenty of water. Italy, meanwhile, issued heatwave red alerts for 17 cities, including Milan and Rome. In Sicily, a 53-year-old woman with a heart condition died while walking in the city of Bagheria, news agencies reported, possibly of heatstroke. Scientists say greenhouse gas emissions from burning fossil fuels are a key cause of climate change, with deforestation and industrial practices being other contributing factors. Last year was the planet's hottest on record. "We keep hearing about climate change. I think we're definitely feeling it now," Omar Bah, a rental company worker said in London, where temperatures hit 32 C. "When I was younger, summer wasn't like this." Across Europe, tourists also sought ways to keep cool. "We woke up as early as possible to get out as early as possible so we can rest during the afternoon," Susana Leivonen, a 45-year-old from Finland said in Paris. The family were prepared with water and sun lotion, and planned to seek respite in shops or take an afternoon nap. The scorching temperatures have raised the risk of field fires as farmers in France, the European Union's biggest grain producer, start harvesting this year's crop, with many working through the night to avoid peak temperatures in the afternoon. Inmate fatally shoots North Carolina officer before being caught in stolen vehicle, sheriff saysNew Foto - Inmate fatally shoots North Carolina officer before being caught in stolen vehicle, sheriff says

A federal inmate escaped from custody at a medical clinic in western North Carolina and fatally shot a detention officer with his own gun Monday, then fled in a stolen vehicle before being captured in another county, a sheriff said. The inmate had been taken to an orthopedics office in Murphy for undisclosed treatment when a scuffle began. The inmate took the officer's weapon and shot him, Cherokee County Sheriff Dustin Smith said at a news conference. The inmate ran into the parking lot, jumped into a vehicle that had just arrived and took off. The inmate was later apprehended in Macon County, nearly an hour to the east, Smith said. Smith said the inmate, Kelvin Simmons, 48, will be charged with first-degree murder. The detention officer was identified as Francisco Paul Flattes, 56, a four-year employee of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. Smith said Flattes' wife also works for the county detention center. Another officer suffered injuries unrelated to the shooting and was recovering, the sheriff said. "This has been probably one of the worst days of my career," Smith said. Emergency personnel in Clay County had alerted Macon County deputies that the inmate was driving to their county on U.S. Route 64, authorities said. Simmons' vehicle was stopped and he was detained after a short standoff. There were no injuries at the scene. Smith said Simmons was already being held on bank robbery charges along with an October 2024 escape. For more CNN news and newsletters create an account atCNN.com

VALERIE MACON/AFP via Getty; Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage Olivia Munnopened up about her struggles with trichotillomania, which she said she first experienced while datingChris Pine. TheYour Friends & Neighborsstar has been candid about the hair-pulling disorder, which the actress said typically manifests in her picking out her eyelashes. She told Dax Shepard about the first time she started hair pulling on the most recent episode of theArmchair Expert With Dax Shepardpodcast. Munn explained that she had been dating Pine, whose star had risen after he had been cast inStar Trek.As a result, paparazzi started camping outside of his home, and Munn said they captured photos of her as she left his apartment. "I did the horrible thing which was to read the comments," she said. "At the time, you don't know that it's bad." This incident occurred after Munn attended the Stony Awards, where she dressed in a blue 1980s-style prom dress in order to make it on the "worst dressed" list. "I couldn't believe it worked," she said of her outfit. "The fact that they know who I am to even put me on this list was very exciting." Michael Tran/FilmMagic While the blue dress was intended to garner a negative reaction, Munn didn't expect people to harp on her look when she was snapped outside of Pine's apartment. She said people especially picked on a wallet clutch she had been holding. The experience started her trichotillomania, she said. Trichotillomania can sometimes be triggered by anxiety or stress, according to theMayo Clinic. Munn shared more about how it feels when she pulls her hair out. "I'll feel like, 'Oh, this eyelash feels like it's gonna come out,' even though it's not," she said. "And then when you pull it, there's a quick second of pain, and then there's a satisfaction, and then immediate regret." While Pine and Munn split years ago, the two remain friends. Israeli strike on cafe near Gaza City port kills dozens, hospital official saysNew Foto - Israeli strike on cafe near Gaza City port kills dozens, hospital official says

More than 40 people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike that hit a cafe near the port in Gaza City, according to the head of the territory's largest hospital. Dr. Mohammad Abu Silmiya, the director of Al-Shifa hospital, said in an update on Monday night that at least 41 people had been killed and 75 injured in the strike. Videos geolocated by CNN show thick smoke rising from the scene as well as widespread damage to the cafe and the surrounding area. They also showed bodies being removed on stretchers. The Israel Defense Forces told CNN that the incident is "under review." In response to questions about the strike, the IDF said, "Earlier today (Monday), the IDF struck several Hamas terrorists in the northern Gaza Strip. Prior to the strike, steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians using aerial surveillance." The Al-Baqa cafe was a well-known spot for students, journalists and remote workers, as it offered internet and a place to work by the Mediterranean coast. Silmiya told CNN that "most of the casualties are women and children," including many students who were at the cafe for internet access. He also said the hospital was short of ICU beds and anesthetics to treat the casualties. The death toll increased Monday night after some people died from their injuries. "We are treating the injured on the hospital floor as no rooms and hospital beds are available," the hospital director added. Among those killed was a freelance journalist, Ismail Abu Hatab, according to other journalists at the scene. The Hamas-controlled Government Media Office said his death brought to 228 the number of journalists killed by Israeli military action in Gaza since October 2023. News of the strike comes as Israeli leaders debate how to proceed with the war in Gaza ahead of an expected meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump on July 7. A source familiar with the discussions told CNN Israel had yet to reach a policy decision after two consecutive days of meetings between Netanyahu and his most senior advisers and ministers. However, the source said Netanyahu is interested in a ceasefire deal. Trump has openly pushed for an end to the war in Gaza, saying on Friday a ceasefire will be agreed to "within a week." The small group of Israel's most senior government officials includes far-right ministers like Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, who have both loudly advocated for an intensification of the bombardment of Gaza, and other officials like Aryeh Deri, who favor a comprehensive hostage deal that would bring about the end of the war. Ben Gvir, head of the Jewish Power party, insisted that a "decisive move" must be made in Gaza and expressed frustration that Israel was wasting time and opportunities with each passing day, the source said. Netanyahu is trying to reach a decision before his trip to Washington, DC, to meet Trump, the source said, adding that they may have to come to a decision this week. On Sunday, Netanyahu said "many opportunities have opened up" following Israel's military operations in Iran, including the possibility of bringing home the remaining hostages held in Gaza. CNN's Tim Lister and Dana Karni contributed to this report. This story has been updated with additional developments. For more CNN news and newsletters create an account atCNN.com
