Jessie J has debuted a poignant new song.

The British singer-songwriter grew emotional while performing songs in London ahead of the release of her new album, Don't Tease Me with a Good Time. The album, out Friday, Nov. 28, comes after she had a miscarriage in 2021 and underwent surgery for breast cancer in June.

While introducing her new song "Comes in Waves" — which was inspired by the pregnancy loss — the Grammy-nominated singer opened about the grief she has experienced after the loss of her baby.

"Today marks four years that I lost my baby," Jessie told the audience, per video footage shared by The Daily Mail. "I don't know if anyone has gone through the same thing, but if you have, or you know someone close to you and you saw it, it's really f---ing bad."

"It's something that you can't ever really prepare to go through. This song is for anybody that needs that hug. I hope this song can help you as it's helped me," the singer continued.

Amid the performance, Jessie was seen turning away from the audience and wiping tears from her face.

"Comes in Waves" features the heart-wrenching lyrics, "It comes in waves, like I'm drownin' in a love I crave that you gave to me / And I hate how much I miss the future that we never made."

Jessie shared in an emotional post on Instagram in November 2021, stating that she had "decided to have a baby on my own" and recently went in for her third scan where she was told "there was no longer a heartbeat."

"Yesterday morning I was laughing with a friend saying 'seriously though how am I going to get through my gig in LA tomorrow night without telling the whole audience I am pregnant.' By yesterday afternoon I was dreading the thought of getting through the gig without breaking down," the musician captioned a photo of her holding up a positive pregnancy test. "After going for my 3rd scan and being told there was no longer a heartbeat."

Two years later, in 2023, she welcomed her first son, Sky, with her boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman.

Jessie spoke with PEOPLE in March about her miscarriage while promoting her first independent single, "No Secrets," which marked her first major release in about years.

Speaking about the opening lyric of the song, which states, "I lost my baby / But the show must go on, right?" she said she wanted to have a "face-to-face, eye contact conversation" with listeners through honest lyrics about her miscarriage.

"That obviously it relates to me and what I've been through," the singer shared. "But as adults in this crazy world, we are all going through heartbreak, loss, grief, trauma — and all have to get up and go and do something, look after someone, be present or go to work to pay our bills. All of us have to put that sadness somewhere, store it and continue."

Don't Tease Me with a Good Time also features the emotional ballad "I'll Never Know Why," about the 2019 death of her friend and bodyguard Dave. While sharing a visual for the song on Instagram, she opened up about the themes of the album.

"The music journey in this album is about deep grief to finding your joy and happiness again. This song is the saddest point of the album and I wanted to capture that in this visual. One take. Real Grief. Simple, sad and honest. I don't hide from emotion. I like to stand in it feel it. You can't heal what you don't acknowledge," she captioned the post.

Don't Tease Me with a Good Time is now out.
