NEW YORK (AP) — Renée Fleming and Béla Fleck, who both dropped out of Kennedy Center appearances after President Donald Trump took over the venue, will give a joint concert at Carnegie Hall as part of a 2026-27 season that also will include a Philip Glass symphony he withdrew from the National Symphony Orchestra.

The season also will feature the venue's first complete performance of Wagner's Ring Cycle.

Fleming and Fleck will present an evening of Appalachian folk music on Dec. 3, Carnegie announced Thursday. Plans for the program began in 2025, before they withdrew last month from Kennedy Center appearances.

Fleming and Fleck also are scheduled to perform the program this May 23 at the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina, and are discussing other possible cities.

Gianandrea Noseda, whose National Symphony appears displaced by Trump abruptly shuttering the Kennedy Center for a two-year reconstruction, will lead the Zurich Opera orchestra in concert performances of the four-opera "Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung)" from March 18-23. The only previous Ring operas presented in their entirety at Carnegie have been "Das Rheingold" and "Die Walküre"

"It's fantastic that with this project we will do something historically important," Noseda said. "Of course you miss the visual aspect but you can get probably more precise musical performances because everybody's focused without movements, without costumes, without lighting."

Noseda conducted staged Rings in 2024 at the Zurich Opera. He is music director there as well as with the NSO, which is searching for a space to play while the Kennedy Center is closed.

"We are working on it," he said.

Glass' Symphony No 15 "Lincoln" will be played by the Orchestra of St. Luke's on Jan. 31. Commissioned by the National Symphony Orchestra, it had been scheduled for its world premiere at the Kennedy Center on June 12 before Glass withdrew it last month, writing "the values of the Kennedy Center today are in direct conflict with the message of the symphony."

Carnegie Hall said the work will premiere elsewhere before the New York performance.

Carnegie's season opens Oct. 8 with the Berlin Philharmonic, led by chief conductor Kirill Petrenko in a program featuring tenor Jonas Kaufmann.

Yannick Nézet-Séguin will conduct all nine of Mahler's completed symphonies with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera orchestra. No. 8, known as "Symphony of a Thousand" will be performed three times from June 10-12, 2027, with a chorus of 350 and orchestra of 126, taking place at the Met rather than Carnegie.

Ian McKellen has revealed that the Garden State will be getting a major renovation in *Avengers: Doomsday*.

The 86-year-old actor recently discussed his experience reprising his role as Magneto/Erik Lehnsherr in the upcoming Marvel film.

"I don't always understand the stories of these movies that I'm in," McKellen said** while visiting *The Late Show* on Wednesday. "But in this one, I don't think I'm spoiling anything by saying that Magneto destroys New Jersey."

Raising his hands in the air, he quipped, "I'm sorry about that, New Jersey! My fault."**

McKellen then leapt out of his chair to recreate the scene for host Stephen Colbert and his audience.

"I'm standing up pretending to do that," he explained, waving his hands to showcase his superpowers. "And the wind is blowing in my hair, and I'm putting on a fierce look, and I'm trying to be magnetic. And the director over the loud speaker says, 'Ian, look more furious!'"**

McKellen said he then tried snarling at the camera, but it just wasn't enough. "He said, 'Shout something!' I said, 'What do I shout?' He said, 'Shout the worst thing you could possibly think of!' So I said, '*Mar-a-lago*!'"

Mar-a-lago is, of course, the private residence of President Donald Trump.

After returning to his seat, McKellen asked Colbert, "Will I be allowed back in the country?"**

The laughing Colbert wasn't so sure. "No guarantees," he said. "I don't think I'm the right person to ask for that."

McKellen starred as Magneto in the original *X-Men *trilogy, playing the villainous mutant in 2000's *X-Men*, 2003's* X2: X-Men United*, and 2006's* X-Men: the Last Stand*. He also made appearances in 2013's* The Wolverine* and 2014's *X-Men: Days of Future Past*.

McKellen is one of several stars who will reprise their roles in *Doomsday*. The cast also includes Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Alan Cumming as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Scott Summers/Cyclops, and Kelsey Grammer as Hank McCoy/Beast. **

Fans got their first look at McKellen's return as Magneto in a *Doomsday* teaser trailer that dropped last month. "Death comes for us all. It's all I know for sure," Magneto intoned in the clip. "The question isn't, 'Are you prepared to die?' The question is, 'Who will you be when you close your eyes?'"

*Avengers: Doomsday* explodes into theaters on Dec. 18. Watch McKellen discuss the film — and *The Lord of the Rings *— in the clip above.

The latest trailer for A24's horror movie undertone proves that the movie will do for audio recordings what The Ring did for videotapes. Listen at your own risk.

The film follows Evy (Nina Kiri), a skeptic who cohosts a paranormal podcast with believer Justin (Adam DeMarco). When Justin sends her 10 mysterious audio files, Evy — who is working from home while caring for her ill mother — listens without a thought. Unfortunately for Evy, that proves to be a colossal mistake, as whatever entity is attached to those files only wants the worst for her.

And those audio files? Boy, are they creepy. The static-filled sounds evoke children's songs, dark whispers and a woman's voice saying very unsettling things, like whispering, "Is everyone asleep?"

"What if it's a warning?" Justin asks Evy. One thing's clear: If Evy was a skeptic at the beginning of the film, she sure as hell won't by the time it's over.

Directed by Ian Tuason in his feature debut, undertone first premiered at Fantasia International Film Festival in July 2025. It was played again at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, where Tuason told TheWrap that he wanted to make a film set in one location — he chose to film the movie in his childhood home. The house was also where Tuason cared for his dying parents years earlier, an experience that he said inspired the film.

"My dad was kind of independent still, but my mom was dependent on me, and then I was just kind of watching her," Tuason said of the movie, which he originally started working on as a radio play. "I started thinking back to when I was a kid and I saw The Exorcist, which is the scariest movie I've seen. I wanted to make something as scary, but I needed to find something to weaponize as 'safe' as a daughter at home. I couldn't think of it until I saw my mom helpless."

Prior to undertone, Tuason became well known in the horror community for his live-action, virtual reality horror shorts on YouTube. He is attached to reboot the Paranormal Activity franchise.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is relaxing rules that restrict when food companies can claim their products have no artificial colors.

The agency announced Thursday that food labels may claim to have "no artificial colors" when they are free of petroleum-based dyes, even when they contain dyes derived from natural sources such as plants. In the past, the FDA has allowed companies to make those claims only when products "had no added color whatsoever," the agency said in a statement.

The move is another step toward the Trump administration's aim to phase out synthetic dyes from the nation's food supply.

In a joint statement, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and FDA Commissioner Marty Makary said the move would encourage companies to switch to natural rather than synthetic colors if they can claim their products contain no artificial colors.

"We are taking away that hindrance and making it easier for companies to use these colors in the foods our families eat every day," Makary said in a statement.

Kennedy and Makary have urged U.S. companies to voluntarily remove synthetic dyes from their products — and many food makers, such as PepsiCo and Nestle, have complied. In addition, some states have taken steps to ban artificial dyes from school meals.

The move drew praise from Consumer Brands, a trade group for packaged foods, which said "all natural ingredients should continue to follow a rigorous science and risk-based evaluation process."

"This is a positive example of the FDA taking the lead on ingredient safety and transparency," Sarah Gallo, the group's senior vice president, said in a statement.

But the label change could mislead consumers, said Sarah Sorscher, director of regulatory affairs for the Center for Science in the Public Interest, an advocacy group. It would allow a claim of "no artificial colors" for any color additive that is not a petroleum-based certified color, including potentially harmful additives such as titanium dioxide.

Also on Thursday, the FDA said it had approved a new natural dye, beetroot red, and expanded the use of spirulina extract, a color derived from algae that provides a blue hue in foods. The FDA currently allows roughly three dozen natural dyes in food products. The agency banned a controversial dye known as Red No. 3 last year and has proposed banning a rarely-used hue, Orange B.

The agency also recently said it would review the six remaining petroleum-based dyes frequently used in the U.S. food supply: Green No. 3, Red No. 40, Yellow No. 5, Yellow No. 6, Blue No. 1 and Blue No. 2.

Health advocates have long called for the removal of artificial dyes from foods, citing inconclusive studies that found they could cause neurobehavioral problems, including hyperactivity and attention issues in some children. Other health experts have noted that bright synthetic colors are a key component of ultraprocessed foods marketed to children, increasing consumption of added sugar, fat and sodium that can lead to health problems.

Still, the FDA's website on Thursday continued to acknowledge limited evidence for harms from artificial colors. "The totality of scientific evidence shows that most children have no adverse effects when consuming foods containing color additives, but some evidence suggests that certain children may be sensitive to them," the site said.

Jay Shetty's On Purpose podcast is known for its deep, intimate conversations that push past the surface—and his latest episode is no exception. For this week's installment, the British author and host welcomed Nick Jonas to the seat for a particularly moving discussion that spanned everything from growing up in the spotlight to his life with wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

In a standout segment, the Jonas Brothers star opened up about fatherhood and all it has taught him. Speaking to Shetty, the musician got emotional recalling the difficult birth of his daughter, Malti Marie, whom he and Chopra welcomed via surrogate in January 2022—three months ahead of her due date.

"She came to the world under sort of very intense circumstances, which I've not really talked about, ever," Jonas shared. "We were expecting her to arrive in April of the year she was born and we got a call that it's gonna be sooner."

"We basically went into action," he continued. "We got to the hospital and she came out. She was one pound, 11 ounces, and purple."

Looking back on the terrifying moment, the singer expressed his gratitude for the NICU nurses who "got [Malti] taken care of really quickly." From there, Jonas and Chopra spent three-and-a-half months taking 12-hour shifts at the hospital, and spent time with other families going through similar situations. "It was both comforting and frightening to be there every day," he said, sharing that he can still remember the smell of the hospital, all these years later.

"I feel like she knows how she entered the world and what that first chapter of her life was like, and so every day is a gift. You can actually feel it in her, in the way that she behaves and how exciting everything is," the artist said about his now four-year-old daughter, his first (and only, as of now) child.

"She's magic in every sense of the word. She just turned four a couple weeks ago, it blows my mind," Jonas said. "I look at her and I can see her future. I just know she's gonna do amazing things. And I'm awestruck that I get to experience her magic."

Chris Noth revealed in a new interview how he feels about his reduced role as Mr. Big in the Sex and the City spin-off, And Just Like That....

Noth briefly reprised his role as Mr. Big, the longtime onscreen love interest to Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw, in the first episode of AJLT. But his character died at the end of that very episode. Noth's sudden exit from the franchise coincided with two women accusing the actor of sexual assault.

While attending a charity event in New York City on Wednesday, Noth was asked by the Daily Mail how he feels to not be part of AJLT, which released its series finale after three seasons last year. "I feel very good. Very well," he said. "I think I was very lucky."

When asked if he keeps in touch with any SATC cast members, Noth answered, "John Corbett [who played Aidan Shaw] and I are very close friends. He's doing wonderful."

As for his rumored feud with Parker, Noth shut down the question. "No, no, no. It's over," he said.

Shortly after the sexual assault allegations against Noth became public, Parker and her SATC co-stars Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon released a joint statement in support of the women behind the claims. "We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth," the statement read. "We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it."

Noth has denied the allegations.

In recent weeks, Noth has ignited rumors of a feud between him and his former co-star by seemingly shading Parker in a comment on Instagram. Responding to a comment that read, "You mean fcuk sjp & her award right? lol," Noth wrote, "Right." He later clarified in another post that his response was meant to be "sarcastic."

"It is not news," Noth continued. "It is not worth all this discussion. It is a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about."
