Kate Middleton has never missed Remembrance Sunday in her time as a working royal. Today, for her 15th straight appearance at the poignant event, the Princess of Wales joined the royal family for the National Service of Remembrance, the formal observance of Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph, a war memorial in London.
For the somber occasion, Kate looked elegant in a black, structured coat with a lace collar and Princess Diana's Collingwood pearl drop earrings. The earrings belonged to Diana, not the royal family; she wore them throughout her life, including before she became Princess of Wales.

In addition, Kate accessorized with a poppy pin. In past years, she has worn a three poppy pin—which could represent her great-grandmother had three brothers who died in action during World War I—but this year, she opted for a single one. Per Elle UK, "Her poppy, a large, embroidered style, has been designed and made by recent graduate of the Royal School of Needlework, Izzy Ager, for Lock & Co Hatters."
She also wore a RAF brooch, a tribute to her paternal grandfather, Peter Middleton, who served as a fighter pilot during World War II. Her brooch, Smiths the Jewellers noted on Instagram earlier this year, "were traditionally given by servicemen to their wives and girlfriends as mementos before leaving for service, and were worn by loved ones to show support and pride."

She was joined on the balcony to watch the solemn service by Queen Camilla. The royal women watched King Charles and Prince William lay wreaths at the Cenotaph memorial.

Last night, Kate also stepped out at the Festival of Remembrance, bringing Prince George with her. For the evening, she wore an Alessandra Rich dress, Queen Elizabeth's Bahrain pearl drop earrings, and a delicate diamond cross necklace. Prince William did not join Kate and George last night, but he was at Remembrance Sunday today.
