AN annoyed JPMorgan Chase customer has issued a warning to other patrons about the bank.

Chase Bank, a prominent financial institution in the US, is facing criticism and customer backlash as a user shared a complaint on Facebook.

One customer took to social media to express frustration after Chase abruptly closed their account, leaving them in financial limbo.

"Avoid Chase," said Facebook user and Chase Bank customer Michael Oros in a post to a Chase Bank public group on the platform.

"They closed my account without notice and are holding my money for 15 days," he added.

There has been no word whether Michael's situation was resolved or if Chase has taken any further action.

'CONSIDERATION OF THE FACTS'

In the past, JPMorgan Chase has offered statements regarding its closing accounts.

While this did not pertain to Michael's specific case, a spokesperson for Chase, Jerry Dubrowski, shed light upon the issue in November.

Dubrowski told Best Life that "accounts are closed only after appropriate review and consideration of the facts."

"When we have concerns about a client's transactions – such as when someone may be using our bank or our customers to commit potentially unlawful activity, or when we receive information from law enforcement — we act in accordance with our compliance program, consistent with our regulatory obligations," he added.

"We know that can be frustrating to clients, but we must follow those obligations."

NOT THE FIRST CASE

This incident sheds light on a growing trend of banks closing accounts without providing customers with adequate notice or explanation.

One customer recently claimed that their debit card information was obtained during a visit to their nearby fair with their son through a method commonly referred to as "skimming."

Skimming can occur at various locations including ATMs, restaurants, gas stations, stores, or merchant establishments where card readers have been tampered with.

Fraudsters can swiftly capture account information when customers swipe or insert their cards, according to the FBI.

"I guess somebody got access to my card skimmed it or whatever…" wrote the Chase customer in a thread on Facebook.

They added that the scammer "spent a lot of money out of my bank account putting me about $800 negative the next day, so I started the fraud process [and] they closed the card."

"I have no access to that money," they said.

The Chase customer further asserted that they had additional funds available through Apple Pay on the same card, but access to these funds was also restricted following the fraudulent transactions reported to the bank.

Reportedly, they were informed that access to the Apple Pay funds was limited to settling bills or making in-app purchases only.

At the time of reporting the story, the customer still hadn't recovered his money and had also not heard from Chase.

For additional related articles, The U.S. Sun also covered the account of another Chase customer who attempted to halt a Walmart charge, only to lose $50,000.

The U.S. Sun also has the story on a Chase customer who alleged that $15,000 was unexpectedly drained from their accounts.
