A former contestant on the popular reality competition series Survivor faces arrest after disappearing with her teenage son during a bitter divorce battle.

Jaime Dugan, who competed on Survivor: China, the 15th season of the smash-hit reality survival show, reportedly failed to return her 16-year-old son, Harper, to his father after a weekend visit at the end of August. The 41-year-old shares Harper with her ex and former Survivor co-star Erik Huffman, who was granted custody after their split.

The FBI has now reportedly opened an investigation into the disappearance. This comes after a Survivor star sued the TV series for $100m after an injury forced him to have a leg amputated.

Jamie competed on the show in 2007, when she was 22, and there she met Erik. The two dated after Survivor and married in 2009, welcoming Harper the following year. Their relationship ended in a bitter divorce in 2024, with Erik granted custody of Harper.

According to a court order obtained by the Daily Mail, Spartanburg County Family Court Judge M. Todd Tighpen found Jamie in direct contempt for not returning her son to his father and for failing to show up to hearings related to the case. The judge categorized Harper as "missing and endangered."

He also called for the reality star's "immediate arrest," authorizing law enforcement across South Carolina to take her into custody if found.

Jamie was due to return Harper to his dad on August 30, but never showed up. She also failed to appear for emergency hearings on September 15 and again on September 18, for which she was found in contempt and was ordered to surrender the child's passport.

Erik, 45, told the publication, "Harper's safety and well-being is my top priority right now, and getting him back safely is extremely important."

"We have such a good relationship. I had set up a good routine for him at my home, with school, and therapists, and tutors, and church youth groups."

His statement concluded, "He was really coming into his own and had a very stable life with me. I hate that he's been ripped away."

The search for the mother-son pair continues, with law enforcement instructed to take her into custody at Spartanburg County Detention Center when apprehended. In court, Erik said, "It's been a logistical nightmare. It's been stressful, and it's been tough. I'm very worried about my son."

Attorney Jonathan Lewis, who represented the former reality star during the divorce proceedings, said, "Ms Dugan is considered innocent if or until she is proven guilty of a criminal offense, or liable for a civil offense, following proper proceedings in a court of law. I join in praying for Harper’s safe return and that this matter will quickly and decisively resolve itself in the best interests of Harper."

Jamie's disappearance comes after she faced charges of cyberstalking in 2025, which were later dropped. After the divorce, she filed for bankruptcy, listing more than half a million in debt.
