On the heels of a rather iconic turn as Saturday Night Live’s host on October 3, Dakota Johnson made the case for embracing the lingerie-as-clothing trend on her birthday. The actress was spotted heading to her 37th birthday dinner on October 4 in New York City—and her look gave new meaning to the phrase “barely there.”

Dining at Via Carota, the actress wore what appeared to be a long black dress with cutout floral lace details that showed off a flash of her black underwear below. She paired the dress with strappy black heels and a cropped black leather jacket with furry cuffs. She swept her hair into a messy updo thanks to a bright red claw clip and accessorized with dainty silver layered necklaces. She carried a small sparkly pouch bag and rocked a bright red manicure.

Just one day earlier, the actress hosted the iconic comedy skit show wearing a bright red latex dress from the 2013 Versace archives along with a megawatt diamond collar worth $124,000. During her opening monologue, she was joined by her longtime friend Taylor Swift for a joke-filled segment all about Johnson’s musician-filled dating history.

Also during her SNL appearance, Johnson performed in several skits, including a Game of Thrones scene that saw her ditching her famous bangs and dark hair in favor of a bright blonde, bangs-free wig.
