Standing in front of Levi's Stadium, the members of Los Pleneros de la Cresta took a moment to share the experience of a lifetime: performing with Bad Bunny during the Super Bowl 60 halftime show.
The ensemble, comprised of Joseph Ocasio Rivera, Jeyluix Ocasio Rivera, Joshuan Ocasio Rivera, and Josué Román Figueroa, is a Puerto Rican group that represents the island's culture and art through their traditional music.
Fans of Bad Bunny may recognize Los Pleneros de la Cresta as the group featured in "Café Con Ron" on Bad Bunny's 2025 album "Debí Tirar Más Fotos," which made history after it was awarded Album of the Year at the Grammys earlier this month.
At the 2025 National Puerto Rican Day Parade, Los Pleneros de la Cresta were recognized as a "Rising Star" on the island, and less than a year later, they made it to one of the largest stages in the world.
"What it means to be here, to be able to play 'Café Con Ron' with these musicians, for us, was so valuable, so important — not just for the music of Puerto Rico, but for the whole world," Joseph Ocasio Rivera told USA Today in Spanish. "To be able to represent and create happiness through the drums is something very unique, very special."

When asked if they were nervous to perform alongside Bad Bunny, the group looked at each other and knew, without hesitation, that they were more than prepared for this moment.
"The reality of the matter is that we've been so sure since day one, we've had so much trust," Joseph Ocasio Rivera told USA Today in Spanish. "We count on the support of our ancestors, our music mentors — to be here representing this genre of Puerto Rican music — it filled us with confidence."
For years, Los Pleneros de la Cresta has aimed to highlight the traditional music of Puerto Rico, and when asked what has kept them steadfast in their mission to share the island's culture with people, they say it's the music itself.
"We have magic words, from day one, that we've focused on since 2013. We've believed, we've persevered, we've trusted, and we've had focus from day one," Joseph Ocasio Rivera told USA Today in Spanish. "I think that those are the key words for us, because that has worked for us. That's the advice we give to every person who has listened to us — believe first, believe in yourself, persevere, and keep fighting."

For many NFL players, the opportunity to play in the Super Bowl and lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy is a dream many chase throughout their careers.
And for the parents of these players, it's a dream to be able witness their children make history.
One such parent was Vivian Borregales, the mother of Andres "Andy" Borregales, a kicker for the New England Patriots.
Although Borregales and the Patriots lost Super Bowl 60 to the Seattle Seahawks, his mom still witnessed her son make history on Sunday as the first-ever Venezuelan to compete in a Super Bowl.
"We are so proud of him," Vivian Borregales told USA Today. "We wanted to make sure to support him in this moment."

During the Super Bowl pre-game celebration, Borregales's family was seen walking through the festivities, holding a Venezuelan flag and sharing the news of their son's accomplishment.
Sunday not only represented an important day for Borregales and his family but also embodied the American Dream for Venezuelans and Latinos who have migrated to this nation in pursuit of success, Vivian Borregales shared.
For some, the Super Bowl was just a Bad Bunny concert
Tens of thousands of fans made their way into Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, in hopes of seeing their team bring home the Vince Lombardi Trophy at the end of the night.
However, for some in the crowd, the game wasn't the reason they attended the Super Bowl.
"I honestly came out here to watch Bad Bunny," Nicolas Gonzalez said. "The game didn't really catch my attention; we (49ers) didn't make it that far due to injuries, but Bad Bunny is what caught my attention."

Although Gonzalez would have loved to see his team, the 49ers, compete for the championship in their home stadium, having the opportunity to witness one of his favorite artists perform was a good consolation prize.
Beyond Gonzalez, hundreds of other fans made their way to Santa Clara just to witness Bad Bunny's halftime performance, which broke television records, with over 135 million tuning in.
"Bad Bunny brought it all," Fatima Villatoro said. "I like watching football, but from the moment I knew Bad Bunny was going to be the halftime performer, I just said I need to go to the Super Bowl."
With Bad Bunny announcing last year that he would not be hosting any shows in America due to concerns about the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Villatoro knew this might be her only chance to see Benito Ocasio in person for the next few years.
"It hits home for a lot of people right now, especially in the times that we are living in," said Villatoro. "I think it's important to show that people are standing together and they're unified through music and food, and that we are not alone in this."
