Spotify is providing users with deeper insight into their listening experience through the expansion of Song Credits, as well as the introduction of SongDNA and About the Song.
Fans were previously able to access Song Credits on any given track, including top-level performance, songwriting and production information. Now, Spotify will expand the Song Credits feature to show all contributors to a tune, spanning from engineers to mixers. The new credits will initially appear on mobile devices before being displayed on desktops in the coming months, and labels and distributors will provide the information to the streaming service.

In a promotional clip showcasing the Song Credits feature, singer Charlie Puth explained why he supports the expansion. "I think this new feature can provide a new, deeper connection between the song and the people who listen to it," he said. "There's so many people who work on songs and never get the credit that they deserve."
Elsewhere, Spotify will introduce SongDNA, described as an "interactive view that maps out connections between songs, showing collaborators, samples and covers all in one place." If it sounds similar to WhoSampled, it's because the samples and covers are powered by the site, which is now part of Spotify. The company will also debut About the Song, a feature sourced from third parties that offers deeper context behind any given song and can be accessed via swipeable cards in the "Now Playing" view.
"Every song is a collaboration, and every contributor should be seen," says Jacqueline Ankner, Spotify's head of songwriter and publishing partnerships. "With expanded Song Credits, SongDNA, and About the song, we're giving fans a deeper look at the people and creative threads behind the music they love and giving creators the recognition they deserve. It's another step in Spotify's work to champion the people, connections, and stories that bring every track to life."
The announcement of the expanded and new features comes a week after the company revealed plans to roll out music videos in the United States and Canada. Spotify had already debuted the beta feature in nearly 100 countries.
