There's a scene in the upcoming film *Anaconda* that star Jack Black likens to the running of the bulls except "it's the running of the snake."

The comedy-adventure film follows lifelong besties Doug (Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd), who, deep in a midlife crisis, decide to realize their dream of remaking their favorite movie, *Anaconda*. Life imitates art when a giant anaconda appears to terrorize the film set.**

The scene in question finds the duo and their gang, which also includes Steve Zahn's Kenny and Thandiwe Newton's Claire, in a dark moment. Doug, Kenny, and Claire have just discovered what they believe to be Doug's corpse in the jungle. After their initial shock subsides, Kenny suggests using their friend's dead body to lure the snake out of hiding. So, they duct tape a dead boar to Doug's back, stuff a dead squirrel in his mouth, prop him up in an open field, and wait out of sight for the predator to attack.

The only problem is that Doug isn't actually dead — a fact they only realize as the anaconda begins its approach.**

"It's always fun when you read a script and there's some scene that is funny or I'm really excited about doing, and then you do it, and it's not how you imagined it — it's better," Rudd says in a behind-the-scenes video provided exclusively to **.

In the clip, which also reveals snippets of the scene, Black says, "The boar on my back, I know it sounds ridiculous, but I'm telling you, it's magic," to which Rudd adds, "I'm watching him going, *Oh my God, I can't take my eyes off this*. *This is so funny*."

The hilarious moment was actually the first thing imagined for the film, says director Tom Gormican, who co-wrote the screenplay with Kevin Etten. "It seemed scary and funny in exactly the way we wanted the film to feel," he says.

Ahead of the movie's Dec. 25 release, Gormican breaks down the hilarious sequence with an annotated script page below.

- This is actually the first scene we thought of when starting to write the film. It seemed scary and funny in exactly the way we wanted the film to feel.

- They are going to use Doug as bait for the anaconda.

- We play this as a very emotional moment — a goodbye — except Doug isn't dead.

- Stuffing a squirrel in his mouth is weird but added a sense of helplessness to the friends' predicament.

- Everyone is confused, especially Doug. He's come to in a fantastically weird situation, about to be eaten by a snake... again.

- It was 105 degrees out the day we shot in Australia. Jack is a real team player.

- Seeing Jack Black running with a giant boar was funny enough, but the ad-libbed expletives made it iconic.

- We had to meticulously plan where the snake — which is 100 percent VFX made by Industrial Light & Magic — was going to be. How close it would get — some near misses.

- Paul Rudd's character, Griff, did some heavy lifting here. Emotional then funny is hard to do while in an action scene.

- This run was about 100 yards. He did it about five times with four cameras rolling.

- We ended up shooting a further complication for Doug with the boar on his back that isn't scripted here. You'll have to see the film to find out what it is.
