The British Museum successfully raised nearly $5 million to save a 24-carat gold heart pendant linked to Henry VIII's marriage to first wife Katherine of Aragon

A heart-shaped symbol of Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon's love story has been saved — just in time for Valentine's Day.

The British Museum in London announced on Tuesday, Feb. 10, that it successfully raised the £3.5 million (about $4.8 million) needed to acquire the Tudor Heart Pendant, a rare piece of 24-carat gold jewelry linked to Henry VIII's marriage to first wife Katherine. The museum launched the public fundraising campaign in October 2025, with the aim of securing the pendant for its private collection so that it could remain on public display for generations to come.

The campaign reached its target just days before its Feb. 14 deadline, thanks to a £1.75 million ($2.4 million) award from the National Heritage Memorial Fund. In addition to several other major contributions, more than 45,000 people gave individual donations totaling £380,000 ($519,000).

"The campaign captured the public's imagination with the untold love story the Tudor Heart tells between Henry and Katherine," the museum said.

Henry famously had six wives. He wed Katherine in 1509 and then, 24 years later, broke away from the Catholic Church by having their marriage annulled in 1533 after falling in love with Anne Boleyn. His union with Katherine was his longest.

The Tudor Heart Pendant was first discovered by a metal detectorist in Warwickshire, England, in 2019. Under the British Treasure Act of 1996, finders have a legal obligation to report all finds of potential treasure, and national and local museums have the chance to acquire significant historical finds before they go up for general sale.

According to the British Museum, the pendant is the only piece of jewelry of its kind from the time of Henry VIII's marriage to Katherine of Aragon.

The pendant, which features enameled motifs, is attached to a 75-link gold chain by a suspension clasp in the form of a hand emerging from a cloud. The front of the pendant is decorated with a white and red Tudor rose entwined with a pomegranate bush, which was the personal emblem of Queen Katherine, "representing fertility and her Spanish homeland."

The pendant's hidden face is detailed with the initials "H" and "K," united by a tasseled cord. Both sides feature the French word "tousiors," meaning "always."

Research conducted by the British Museum revealed that the Tudor Heart Pendant may have been made to celebrate the betrothal of Henry and Katherine's 2-year-old daughter Princess Mary to the 8-month-old French heir-apparent in 1518.

The British Museum

"As well as commemorating Henry and Katherine's love, ambition and Katherine's importance as Henry's first queen, the Tudor Heart Pendant also unveils this little-told part of Mary's story," the museum said. "A powerful witness to pivotal years in English history, the Tudor Heart Pendant offers a tantalising glimpse into the splendour of Henry VIII's early court and celebrates chivalry, love and dynastic hope."

Actor Damian Lewis, who starred as Henry VIII in Wolf Hall, fittingly lent his support to the Tudor Heart Pendant fundraising campaign. In a video shared on Instagram by the British Museum, he showed off the jewelry piece, describing it as "so exquisite" and encouraging people to donate.

He noted that Henry and Katherine actually shared a beautiful love story, but "we don't chart that much in history because it tends to be all about their divorce and the fact that he fell for Anne Boleyn."

The Tudor Heart Pendant is currently on display in Room 2: Collecting the World at the British Museum in London.

Did you expect anything less?

Teyana Taylor doesn't miss when it comes to her red carpet looks, so you could only imagine the head-turning number she's most likely going to wear to the 2026 Oscars as a first-time Best Actress nominee.

When speaking with PEOPLE exclusively on the EA Sports Madden Bowl red carpet ahead of the 2026 Super Bowl, Taylor revealed that her awards show look is already in the works and teased what style spectators can expect upon her arrival on March 15.

"I might not be thinking about a speech, but I am absolutely thinking about a 'fit. You know what I mean? I will throw a 'fit on that club," the One Battle After Another star confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

While Taylor played coy on her Academy Award outfit specifics, telling sartorial stans to "stay tuned" until her grand entrance on the scene approximately a month from now, she did confirm one fact about her overall look.

"It's going to be good, though. It's going to be good," she made clear.

One Battle After Another received 13 nominations at the Oscars, while Hamnet received eight. Sinners leads this year's field with 16 total nominations, which broke a record for the most nominations for a single film ever.

Taylor, who plays Perfidia in the Paul Thomas Anderson-directed film, also tells PEOPLE that she's not thinking about an Oscar-winning speech — and has a specific reason about why not.

"I'm not thinking about my speech," she reveals. "I'm not even trying to go down that rabbit hole. I'm pacing myself. I don't want to jinx anything. Honestly, I'm having just a good time. Having fun and staying grounded, that's so important for me. You know what I'm saying?"

"I got so much more work to do," she says, humbly. "Win or lose, to have this moment that I'm having right now feels amazing. I feel like I already won spiritually... Mentally, emotionally, in regards to just being a part of the conversation, being nominated amongst amazing women that I'm inspired by."

"This is a real moment where I'm like, 'Wow, I'm really in my winning season'," Taylor continues. "And when I say my winning season, I don't mean the trophies. I mean being here, being with them, being honored, being seen, being celebrated, being nominated. That's the win."

"The nomination is, 'Hey, we see you.' You know what I'm saying? 'Hey, we support you.' And that means the world because we're being voted for by our peers," she shares. "It means a lot to feel seen."

Conan O'Brien is returning to host the Oscars live on Sunday, March 15, at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and streaming on Hulu.

- Mario will bounce his way to outer space in *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, *the sequel to 2023's *The Super Mario Bros. Movie*.

- The follow-up is inspired by the *Super Mario Galaxy* games, though producers promise it "holds surprises for fans of every Mario era."

- It stomps into theaters on April 1, 2026.

Along with the *Sonic the Hedgehog* film franchise, *The Super Mario Bros. Movie* helped usher in a new era for film adaptations of video games. The animated hit's $1.3 billion gross helped set the stage for the box office domination of *The Minecraft Movie*, as well as the upcoming *Legend of Zelda* adaptation.

A sequel was inevitable, and it arrives this year with *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie*. Franchise creator Shigeru Miyamoto has called it "the main event of the *Super Mario Bros.* 40th anniversary."

What does that mean exactly? And is it inspired by the *Super Mario Galaxy* games? Read on for everything we know so far about *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.*

Will there be a Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel?

Yes, Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri, founder and CEO of the animation studio Illumination, officially announced a follow-up in March 2024.

"This time we're thinking about broadening Mario's world further," said Miyamoto, though he and Meledandri were hesitant to call it a sequel, per *Variety*.

That said, the announcement also came with the news that the creative team behind the original film — directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, screenwriter Matthew Fogel, and composer Brian Tyler — would all return for the next adventure.**

On Sept. 12, 2025, the follow-up was revealed to be titled *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie* during a Nintendo Direct livestream, with Miyamoto confirming a release date and sharing a brief teaser for the movie.

What is The Super Mario Galaxy Movie about?

Illumination Entertainment/Universal Pictures

Nintendo and Illumination have yet to reveal a proper plot synopsis for *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie*, but as its title implies, the game will see Mario navigating the far reaches of outer space.

"What kinds of adventures do you think Mario and his friends will have in space?" Miyamoto teased during the livestream.

Space, of course, is no new frontier for Mario, as the character is tasked with navigating a multitude of planets, stars, and spaceships in 2007's *Super Mario Galaxy* and 2010's *Super Mario Galaxy 2. *The games, which find Mario defying gravity in an effort to save Princess Peach from Bowser, have been lauded by gamers as some of the best titles in the sprawling *Super Mario* canon.

In fact, ** hailed *Super Mario Galaxy* as "charming, brilliantly conceived, and utterly capable of making you feel like a kid all over again."

"While the *Super Mario Galaxy* games are the *core* inspiration for our story, this next film holds surprises for fans of every Mario era," said Meledandri during the livestream.

In a 2024 interview with *Men's Journal*, Keegan-Michael Key, who voices the mushroom-headed Toad, shared some details about what's in store.

"I feel like what they've done creatively is they've really widened out the universe that these characters live in and we're going to meet some new folks," he said. "We're going to meet some new folks that are old favorites and some folks that I think are really deep cuts, but because of the way the story's laying itself out right now, those characters are going to be very intriguing."**

Is there a Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer?

Back in September 2025, Nintendo and Illumination dropped a brief teaser that offered a fresh look at the world's bright, cozy Mushroom Kingdom. Two months later, the official trailer arrived to reveal that Bowser is still tiny after munching on a mini mushroom at the end of the first film.

He's trapped in a mini castle under Mario and Luigi's supervision, but hasn't given up on Peach (he's even painted a little portrait of them together).

We also meet some new faces: the comet-watching Rosalina and the masked Bowser Jr., the latter of whom is determined to save his teensy dad.

And remember how the first movie hinted at the imminent arrival of Yoshi with that green polka-dot egg? Well, looks like the long-tongued dinosaur is going to play a big role in the sequel.

The latest trailer finds Mario and Luigi stumbling upon the green lizard in a spooky cave. Later, we see glimpses of Mario and Peach dodging flaming traps in Bowser's castle, Luigi wearing a Frog Suit, and Peach going toe-to-toe with an egg-spitting Birdo.**

Who's in the The Super Mario Galaxy Movie cast?

Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie) in 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie'

Illumination Entertainment/Universal Pictures

It wouldn't be a *Super Mario* movie without Mario. Chris Pratt, the *Guardians of the Galaxy *star who voiced Mario in the first film, is confirmed to be returning as the voice of our hopping hero.

Also returning? Charlie Day (*It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia*) as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy (*Furiosa*) as Princess Peach, Jack Black (*A Minecraft Movie*) as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key (*Only Murders in the Building*) as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson (*Family Guy*) as Kamek.

Joining the cast is Oscar winner Brie Larson and actor and filmmaker Benny Safdie. Larson voices Rosalina, a princess tasked with watching the cosmos. Safdie, the *Smashing Machine* director with acting credits in *Oppenheimer* (2023) and *Happy Gilmore 2* (2025), voices Bowser Jr., the menacing child of the franchise's big bad.

Pratt said in a January 2026 interview that even more new characters are coming. "I'm not allowed to say what they are, but yes, there are some really incredible ones," he said, adding, "there's even a couple more that are not in the trailer that people should be excited to see."**

Naumov qualified for the free skate program on Friday

Maxim Naumov felt a calmness that he hadn't felt before when he made his Olympic debut on Tuesday night.

In front of a boisterous crowd, the 24-year-old had one of the best short program performances of his life, thanks to a stillness he felt was his parents, Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, looking over him, a year after they tragically died in the D.C. plane crash.

"Usually I'm a little jittery and kind of — I rush a little bit — and I felt none of that here," Naumov told reporters, including PEOPLE, after his performance on Tuesday, Feb. 10. "The calm, the stillness, the confidence. I tried to lean as much into that as I possibly could."

Naumov, who was given a score of 85.65 and has qualified for the free skate on Friday, attributed the feeling to his parents, who were also his coaches.

"I felt almost like a hand on my back pushing me forward and, just feeling my parents guiding me, from one element to another and just kind of keeping me grounded, almost like a chess piece on a chessboard from one element to another, but it was unlike any other feeling I've ever felt before," he said.

The bronze medalist at the 2026 U.S. Figure Skating Championships also credits the fan support over the last year in helping him succeed.

"The support and the presence from everyone that's been supporting me through the entire season, it all played a factor. All the prayers and the thoughts, I really do feel it, and I felt it throughout the entire thing," Naumov said. "It's almost like I closed my eyes and I opened them again and I was on my knees at the end and just looking up and saying, 'Man, look what we just did.' "

When asked how he thinks his parents would have reacted, Naumov couldn't help but smile.

"I know for a fact that my mom wouldn't have been here watching, that's for sure," he said, grinning. "She never liked to watch me in person. She would always be refreshing the scores thing and making sure that she's on top of it, but nervous out of her mind, but supporting me in her own way always."

His dad, on the other hand, "Would be right next to me and give me the biggest hug and just say I'm proud of you," Naumov said.

Naumov will now wait to see how the rest of the night shakes out for the men's figure skaters, including for his Team USA teammates Andrew Torgashev and Ilia Malinin. He'll spend the next two days preparing for his free skate on Friday night — something he thinks his dad would have reminded him of tonight.

"[He would be] saying the job's not finished and when we have a goal as a family on our minds, there's nothing that's going to stop us from getting there," Naumov said.

Winning an Olympic medal spurred a Norwegian biathlete to shoot his shot … with his ex-girlfriend.

In an emotional interview after he earned the bronze medal in the men's 20km biathlon at the 2026 Milano Cortina games on Tuesday, Sturla Holm Lægreid surprised audiences with an unprompted personal confession.

Three months ago, he cheated on "the love of [his] life, the most beautiful and kindest person."

"I told her a week ago. And it's been the worst week of my life," he told Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). "I had a gold medal in life, and there's probably a lot of people out there who look at me differently now, but I only have eyes for her. Sports has taken a bit of a back seat these past couple of days. Yeah, I wish I could share this with her."

Lægreid brought up the topic by saying that he had wanted to share his win with someone "who might not be watching today."

Without naming his ex-partner, he said that he met her six months ago. She broke up with him once he told her about his betrayal.

"I'm not ready to give up. I hope that committing social suicide [like this] might show her how much I love her," Lægreid said. I accept the consequences of what I've done. I regret it with all my heart. Maybe I'm dumb as a rock. I'm a member of Mensa, but I still do stupid stuff."

He said he's "realized that this is the woman of my life, and I can't live my whole life keeping that from her. My only path to the finish line is to tell her everything and put it all on the table, and hope that she'll still love me. I've done that for her, and now for the entire world. I've nothing to lose."

The attempt to make an appeal to his ex on the global stage quickly made the rounds online, stirring intrigue and confusion online. One Swedish sports journalist called it the "strangest medal interview I've seen."

Lægreid is a six-time Biathlon World Champion and was a relay gold medalist at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. His bronze win Tuesday was his first Olympic medal this year.

When asked how he managed to score the bronze despite his tough week, Lægreid told NRK that his club back home sent him a video that he used for motivation.

"I want to be a good role model, but I have to own up to my mistakes," he said. "You have to recognize when you've done something you can't defend and hurt someone you love so deeply."

When asked about his infidelity, Lægreid's teammate Johannes Dale-Skjevdal said some fellow athletes were aware of the incident.

"Yeah, we knew. I don't have much to say about it," Dale-Skjevdal told NRK. "It's good that he's open about it, and if he wants to talk about things, that's fine, but I think it's difficult for me to comment on now."

Martin Uldal, however, said he was in the dark,

"I've noticed that he's been acting differently, but I didn't really know why," Uldal said. "I thought it was maybe just nerves. I'm very sad to hear it. It's a really tough situation. We will comfort him."

Botn, who earned the gold medal in Lægreid's event, said the whole affair is "none of [his] business," and that his own win was "first and foremost a personal and emotional victory" — before Lægreid cut in to apologize.

"Sorry if I ruined your day," Lægreid said. "But I think he understands. I don't want to steal the limelight today."

Don't blink because the NFL will be back in less than two weeks.

Now that the Seattle Seahawks have been crowned Super Bowl champions, it's on to the 2026 season. That'll kick off with the annual scouting combine in Indianapolis from Feb. 23-March 2.

Free agency follows on March 9 with the two-day negotiating period. The annual league meeting begins on March 29 in Phoenix.

The 10 teams that hired a new head coach may begin offseason workout programs on April 6. Other teams can start on April 20.

The NFL draft is in Pittsburgh from April 23-25.

Here are some of the NFL's top upcoming storylines:

International games

The league will play a record nine international games, including the first-ever regular-season games in Melbourne, Australia, Paris and Rio de Janeiro.

The San Francisco 49ers will face the division-rival Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, a venue that holds about 100,000 spectators.

The Dallas Cowboys will be one of the teams playing in Rio. The league has played two other games in Brazil in São Paulo. The teams facing off in Paris haven't been determined.

The other sites include three games in London, one in Madrid, one in Mexico City, and one in Munich.

The league is aiming to play 16 international games per season but it's going to take negotiating with the NFL Players Association to make that happen.

"I think you have to look at a few things," NFL executive Jeff Miller told the AP last week. "One is obviously our operations team needs to make sure that the markets where we could potentially play are good for us. That's everything from the medical infrastructure to the hotels, to the practice facilities, and of course the surface, which has been a point of conversation. The travel back and forth matters. How are they going to be able to acclimate coming back? ... So we have to figure out from a scheduling perspective, knowing we're only playing a game a week for the clubs, how that works in with the travel that's necessary and the distances they have to go."

David White, the union's interim executive director, said players "appreciate a global stage" but the experience hasn't always been great.

"Here's the issue: They've got a lot of feedback about not having good experiences because it's inconsistent," White said.

Expanding to 18 games

It's likely the league won't get to 16 games internationally until they expand to 18 regular-season games, which is "not a given" according to Commissioner Roger Goodell.

"We're only limited by the supply, not the demand," Miller said about international games. "There's huge demand internationally for NFL football to play games. If you expand to greater inventory, then maybe you're at a place where every team can play a game internationally. That would be terrific for the group."

Goodell pointed out player safety concerns, competitive issues, the potential need to add another bye and roster sizes as areas that have to be addressed through collective bargaining before the league could expand to 18 games. The current CBA between the NFL and its players' union expires in 2030.

White said players have "no appetite" for expanding the schedule so conversations aren't even imminent.

Rule changes

The NFL Competition Committee and teams are expected to propose several rule changes that would require the owners' approval.

Banning the tush push could be among those. Even though the Philadelphia Eagles didn't have quite the same success running the play this season, officials had trouble officiating it. A proposal that bans pushing and pulling ballcarriers might get enough traction.

The league is exploring replay review to potentially include crackback blocks, low blocks/clipping, blindside blocks, intentional grounding (determine a receiver's position on the field) and illegal formation on kickoffs (determine feet on the ground when the ball is touched).

Throwing a flag for penalties after reviewing video would be a significant change if it happens. Replay review currently only allows for picking up a flag that was incorrectly thrown.

Will Campbell says he tore knee ligament during 2025 season

New England Patriots left tackle Will Campbell broke his media silence with a significant revelation on Feb. 10.

After leaving the Patriots' locker room after the Super Bowl without talking to members of the media, Campbell spoke to reporters a couple of days later. According to Mark Daniels of MassLive, the first-year offensive lineman said he tore a ligament in his knee during the season.

Campbell said he played at less than 100% during the Patriots' Super Bowl run but also said it was not an excuse for his struggles down the stretch.

Campbell missed all of December after landing on injured reserve with a knee injury he sustained in a Week 12 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Campbell had to be carted to the locker room after the injury, and he landed on injured reserve the following week. After missing the minimum four games on IR, Campbell returned for Week 18 and the playoffs.

The No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft allowed 14 pressures against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 60, according to Next Gen Stats. That was the most allowed by a single player in any game during the 2025 season, including the playoffs.

Next Gen Stats also attributed 29 total pressures allowed to Campbell over the course of the Patriots' playoff run, which is the most of any player since 2016, the beginning of the Next Gen Stats era.

In the days after the Super Bowl, more than a handful of current and former offensive linemen took to social media to analyze Campbell's struggles. Several pointed to a lack of solid base/foundation in his stance, which could be chalked up to the knee injury he was still recovering from.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said on Feb. 10 that he and the team have no plans to move Campbell to the interior after his rough outing.

"Will's 22 years old. He's our left tackle," Vrabel said. "He'll get better and get stronger. (There were) moments where he played well, moments where he blocked a guy. There's plays he'd like to have back; we're not moving him to guard or center or tight end or anywhere else."
