A few months ago, news broke of Matlock star Davide Del Rio being accused of sexual assault by a co-star, Leah Lewis. With Del Rio's swift removal from the series following the allegations, Lewis reveals she and the rest of the cast have resumed filming.
According to her Instagram story on Monday, Dec. 1, she wrote, "@matlockcbs. And we back up and running." The photo she uploaded was of her smiling while at a studio lot in front of a trailer. It also appears she's dressed as her Matlock character, lawyer Sarah Franklin, for Season 2.
It was previously reported that Del Rio had allegedly assaulted his co-star in late September, with the producers having later learned of the incident. As a result, Del Rio was promptly removed from the Paramount lot on Oct. 2 when the report was officially filed.
Due to the allegations and report, it was reported that Del Rio would be written out of all episodes moving forward. After news broke of the incident, Lewis took to her Instagram stories to tell fans she was doing okay.
She posted a photo alongside her mother, commenting about being in "good hands" and saying "Thank you to everybody for any kind of support and care. Truly, we're moving forward in strength."
Drama ensued when Del Rio's wife had reportedly posted her own Instagram stories mimicking Lewis's, but later deleted them. It was also reported that Del Rio has hired high-profile defense attorney Shawn Holley, who has represented Kim Kardashian and worked with her father on the O.J. Simpson case.
With Del Rio gone, Matlock will have to shift the storyline to account for his absence. The series had gone through a pre-planned hiatus through Thanksgiving after the incident. Matlock Season 2 officially premiered on CBS on Oct. 12.
