Anderson Cooper's future at CNN has been revealed.
The Anderson Cooper 360 host, 58, has signed a new contract and will be staying at CNN, PEOPLE can confirm. His contract renewal comes amid a continually evolving broadcast news landscape, as CNN in particular shifts its focus to targeting a broader digital audience.
Cooper has been at CNN since 2001 and is approaching his 25th anniversary at the network. He began hosting Anderson Cooper 360 in 2003, and the show remains one of the network's most popular programs.
Variety was the first to report the news of Cooper's contract extension on Monday, Dec. 8.

News of Cooper's contract extension comes amid a turbulent period for broadcast news anchors across networks.
CBS Evening News co-anchors John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois both confirmed their departures from CBS within weeks of each other, less than a year after they replaced Norah O'Donnell on the show. NBC has faced a similar pattern of exits, as Lester Holt, Andrea Mitchell, Chuck Todd and Joy Reid all left the network this year.

CNN also saw a major departure at the beginning of 2025 when Jim Acosta suddenly revealed his exit after 18 years with the network. "You may have seen some reports about me and the show, and after giving all of this some careful consideration and [after] weighing alternative time slots CNN offered me, I've decided to move on," Acosta, 54, said on a January broadcast.
He thanked viewers and advised them, "Don't give in to the lies. Don't give in to the fear. Hold on to the truth and hope."

The New York Times reported at the time that Acosta's exit was a result of a clash between the anchor and network heads over his show's time slot, which Acosta felt could have been part of a network-wide effort to sideline journalists that had been critical of President Donald Trump as he had.
Cooper's contract extension comes days after Trump, 79, singled out Kaitlan Collins, CNN's chief White House correspondent, in a Truth Social post. He called her "stupid and nasty" after she questioned him about his controversial White House ballroom renovation.
In response, Collins, 33, shared a brief statement on her Instagram Stories. She reposted the president's post and wrote, "Technically, my question was about Venezuela."
