I don’t know what Eddie the Yorkshire Terrier is keeping in that cardboard box, but apparently it’s worth going to prison for. This tiny little dog has decided that a beat-up old shipping box is his most prized possession, and his mom is about to learn that you do NOT mess with a Yorkie’s personal property. Especially when that Yorkie is prepared to turn into a full-grown Rottweiler to defend it.

In the hilarious video, Eddie is lying next to his beloved cardboard box, looking like a perfectly innocent little gentleman with enormous eyes and a scruffy little face. His mom calmly explains, “Eddie, I need to break that box down,” and suddenly all hell breaks loose. Eddie starts growling and barking like she’s just threatened to demolish his childhood home. Sir, it is a CARDBOARD BOX. But judging by his reaction, she might as well have told him she’s selling the house and all his belongings.

The video was shared by @ladybird19948, and people in the comments are firmly on Eddie’s side. Apparently, the internet has decided this little man deserves to keep his garbage.

“One woman’s garbage is another Yorkie’s treasure,” joked one viewer.

Another suggested, “Put a pillow in it! It’s his man cave.”

And somebody else offered a possible explanation for Eddie’s attachment, writing, “Maybe he is moving.”

Honestly, that would explain the attitude. He’s already packed his stuff and now his mom wants to destroy his moving box.

“That’s his emotional support box,” another person declared, which feels like the most accurate diagnosis of this entire situation.

Someone even suggested, “Have you talked to him about rehab?”

I am CRYING. Eddie apparently has a cardboard addiction, and his family is staging an intervention.

Why Dogs Get So Attached to Random Things

Dogs can develop surprisingly strong attachments to everyday objects, especially things that smell familiar, feel comforting, or have become part of their routine. For some dogs, that’s a favorite stuffed animal or an old blanket. For Eddie, apparently, it’s a cardboard box that probably arrived with somebody else’s Amazon order.

A few reasons dogs might become obsessed with random objects include:

They smell familiar. Dogs rely heavily on scent, and familiar objects can be comforting.

They associate them with fun. If Eddie has enjoyed playing around his box, he may see it as something worth protecting.

They like having their own space. Some dogs enjoy cozy, enclosed areas, although a cardboard box isn’t a substitute for a proper resting spot.

They don’t want to give up something valuable. Growling over an object can be a sign of resource guarding, so it’s best not to grab it or punish the warning. Trading for a treat and getting professional help if guarding persists is safer.

Personally, I think Eddie should get to keep his box, assuming it’s safe and he’s not eating the cardboard.

Somebody put a little pillow in there, hang up a tiny “NO TRESPASSING” sign, and let this man enjoy his retirement.

Because if Mom tries to throw that thing away again, I’m pretty sure Eddie is calling his lawyer.
