Awards season is taking shape as the critics highlight the best movies and TV shows of the year.
On Friday, Dec. 5, the Critics Choice Association announced the nominees for its 31st annual Critics Choice Awards. Sinners led among film with a total of 17 nominations, while Netflix's series Adolescence topped the television categories with six total nods.
Chelsea Handler returns to host the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, Jan. 4, airing live on E! and USA Network at 7 p.m. ET from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.
Four new categories were added this year: Best Variety Series, Best Stunt Design, Best Casting and Ensemble, and Best Sound.
