Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was ruled out with a concussion after hitting his head on the turf against the visiting Denver Broncos on Sunday.

The Broncos' Kris Abrams-Draine levied a blow to the midsection of Stroud as he attempted to slide for a first down with 13:49 remaining in the first half. The hit resulted in Stroud slamming the back of his helmet against the turf. After receiving attention from the training staff, Stroud departed under his own power and was later escorted to the home locker room.

Stroud was 6-for-10 passing for 79 yards and led the Texans into field goal range on two drives. Davis Mills replaced Stroud under center with the Texans leading 3-0 and led a drive for an additional Houston field goal.

Sunday's concussion was the second for Stroud, who left a December 2023 game against the Jets after a hard tackle by Quinnen Williams. On that play,

the back of Stroud's helmet smacked the turf. He did not play in the next two Texans' games vs. Tennessee and Indianapolis.

ACC issues public reprimand of Dabo Swinney for criticizing refs in Clemson's loss to Duke

The Atlantic Coast Conference has issued a public reprimand of Dabo Swinney for his postgame comments on the officiating in Clemson football's loss to Duke on Saturday, Nov. 1.

The Tigers were additionally given a $10,000 fine by the ACC for Swinney's comments in "direct violation" of the ACC Sportsmanship policy, according to the conference's news release. The fine is to be paid to the ACC's Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford Postgraduate Scholarship account.

The punishment comes less than 24 hours after Swinney called out the officials in his postgame conference for giving Clemson a defensive pass interference penalty on fourth-and-10 on Duke's final drive of the game that led to an eventual game-winning touchdown and two-point conversion.

'THIS IS A LOW OF LOWS': Dabo Swinney's worst Clemson season continues in loss to Duke

The penalty was assessed to Avieon Terrell on an incomplete pass from Duke quarterback Darian Mensah to wide receiver Que'Sean Brown with 49 seconds remaining in the game. As noted by the Greenville News' Derrian Carter, Swinney believed a flag should've been thrown for offensive pass interference on Duke instead of defensive pass interference on Clemson.

"It shouldn't come down to that. We had plenty of opportunity to win the game, but that's one of the worst calls I've ever seen in my entire coaching career. Ever," Swinney said of the penalty on Nov. 1.

Here's a clip of the play:

— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) November 1, 2025

In its news release, the ACC mentioned Swinney's comments violated the conference's sportsmanship policy, which states: "Public criticism of officials or public comments evaluating the officiating of particular contests is not in the best interest of intercollegiate athletics. Individuals associated with the athletics program are prohibited, therefore, from commenting while acting in an official capacity on officiating other than directly to the Conference office."

As noted by the Greenville News, part of the USA TODAY Network, Clemson has now lost six consecutive home games against Power conference teams for the first time since the 1970-71 seasons and will finish with its worst home record and ACC record since 1999.

Up next for Swinney and Clemson will be a Week 11 home game against Florida State at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Memorial Stadium, where the Tigers will look to win back-to-back games against the Seminoles.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 30 points and seven assists in three quarters, and the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 137-106 on Sunday to extend their season-opening winning streak to seven games.

Gilgeous-Alexander made 8 of 14 field goals and all 13 of his free throws in 30 minutes to keep the Pelicans winless.

Isaiah Hartenstein had 14 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists for the Thunder, who shot 56% from the field and had eight players score in double figures. Oklahoma City's largest lead was 36 points in the fourth quarter.

The Thunder entered the game ranked last in the NBA in 3-point percentage at just under 30%, but made 20 of 48 (41.7%) against the Pelicans.

Oklahoma City dominated despite three starters from last season's championship team missing the game. Thunder guard Lu Dort was out with an illness, forward Chet Holmgren missed his third straight game with a lower back sprain and guard/forward Jalen Williams hasn't played this season as recovers from offseason surgery on his right wrist.

None of that stopped the Thunder from winning their 11th straight matchup with the Pelicans. The Thunder equaled their 7-0 start from last season, when they won the NBA title. Oklahoma City is the third team in league history to start 7-0 in back-to-back seasons, joining the Boston Celtics (1963-65) and Houston Rockets (1993-95).

Zion Williamson had 20 points and nine rebounds and Trey Murphy III added 19 points for New Orleans, which fell to 0-6.

Former Oklahoma star Jeremiah Fears, a rookie, scored 16 points for the Pelicans after getting a warm reception when he was introduced during starting lineups.

The Thunder made 13 of 24 3-pointers in the first half to take a 75-52 lead. Jaylin Williams tied a career high with four 3-pointers in the first half.

The Thunder led 114-90 in the fourth when Kevon Looney hit Oklahoma City's Ajay Mitchell in the face as Mitchell drove to the hoop. After review, Looney was called for a Flagrant-1. Mitchell made both free throws, then hit a floater on the extra possession to make it 118-90.

The Indianapolis Colts did nothing in the first eight weeks to indicate they were anything but one of the best teams in the NFL. They were 7-1 and even their loss, against a good Los Angeles Rams team, came on a couple of dumb and uncharacteristic mistakes.

Yet the Colts weren't being embraced as a true Super Bowl contender. The naysayers now have a terrible performance to point to.

The Colts were bad in a 27-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's the kind of game from quarterback Daniel Jones that will fuel more doubts about him and the Colts going forward.

Against a Steelers defense that has been bad most of the season, the Colts couldn't do much. The Steelers clearly wanted to take Jonathan Taylor out of the game and were pretty successful at that. That put Jones on the spot. He had been pretty good all season. But on Sunday, Jones looked like the quarterback that was cut by the lowly New York Giants in the middle of last season. That version of Jones, with unsteady play and untimely mistakes, is the player everyone got used to seeing when he was in New York.

Jones was hesitant and made the types of mistakes that he had avoided over the first half of the season. He was sacked five times after taking just nine sacks in the first eight games. The Colts, who had four turnovers all season before Sunday, had three in the first half against the Steelers. The Colts finished with six turnovers, four of which were on Jones. He had two interceptions and two lost fumbles. Jones finished with 342 passing yards but that was a lot of empty calories at the end of a game that was rarely in doubt for the Steelers.

If it was a classic Steelers defense, a bad game would be more reasonable for the Colts, who were bound to have a down performance eventually. But Pittsburgh has had trouble stopping anyone this season.

Jones wasn't solely to blame. The offensive line played its worst game of the season. Taylor has been amazing all season but was a non-factor on Sunday. The Colts' defense wasn't terrible but didn't make any big plays to help the offense out.

After a 7-1 start, one rough performance is excusable. However, it won't help the perception of the Colts as being a step behind some of the better teams in the NFL, despite them posting the best record in football through eight weeks. It won't help anyone be more confident in Jones playing at a top-10 level all season.

Every team in the NFL has had a couple of down weeks so far. Nobody figured on the Colts avoiding some downturns for a full season. But now they have to prove themselves again to the NFL world that the first half of the season is their true level. It isn't easy to fight preconceived notions.

Here are the rest of the winners and losers from Week 9 of the NFL season:

J.J. McCarthy: There's a long way to go for McCarthy to show he's the Minnesota Vikings' answer at quarterback, or even a good option in the present. But he and the Vikings needed a game like Sunday.

In McCarthy's first game back to the lineup after dealing with an ankle injury, he played well in a 27-24 road win over the Detroit Lions. The Lions were big favorites but struggled all game on offense and defense. McCarthy took advantage. He had two passing touchdowns and another rushing touchdown as the Vikings pulled off the upset, and he clinched it with a completion on third-and-5 when the Lions still had a timeout left. McCarthy wasn't prolific, with just 143 passing yards, but he did enough.

The Vikings needed a win to avoid falling to 3-5. Now they're 4-4 and if McCarthy looks like the confident quarterback we saw Sunday and continues to grow, it's not too late for the Vikings to be a factor in the NFC playoff race.

Mac Jones: Jones might have made himself some good money the past few weeks, with Brock Purdy out for the San Francisco 49ers.

Jones hasn't been perfect but he has done pretty well filling in for Purdy. He played well again against the New York Giants in a 34-24 win. Jones was 19 of 24 for 235 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. If Purdy returns for the 49ers' next game, Jones will head back to the bench after helping the 49ers to a 5-2 record with their starting quarterback sidelined.

His play will be looked at closely by teams looking for the next Daniel Jones/Sam Darnold reclamation as a starter, or even as a high-end backup. The 49ers have him under contract for another season. The team will likely field some calls on him, but San Francisco might not be quick to deal him. Jones might have to wait until the 2027 offseason to cash in, but he'll be just 28 years old then. He'll be in demand whenever he's available.

Fourth quarter Bo Nix: At some point this season, Sean Payton will have to figure out how to get Nix to play all the entire game like it's the fourth quarter. Maybe the Denver Broncos can use hypnosis.

But for now the Broncos will take the wins that Nix has pulled out of the fire. Nix didn't do much against a very good Houston Texans defense but did just enough on a late fourth-quarter drive, with a couple of huge runs that picked up 34 yards, setting up Wil Lutz for a game-winning field goal as time expired. The Broncos are 7-2 after an ugly 18-15 win.

Denver's record is good but the offense has to find more consistency. But Nix has played well enough in the fourth quarters of games against the Giants, Eagles and Texans to give hope that an offensive revival is on the way.

Bengals defense: Even when the Cincinnati Bengals had what looked like a comeback for the ages, it was too good to be true. Because the Cincinnati defense still had to play for 54 seconds.

The Bears gave up two touchdowns in the final two minutes, with a rare successful onside kick by the Bengals in between, and Cincinnati led 42-41 with 54 seconds left. But somehow Caleb Williams found rookie tight end Colston Loveland over the middle of the field and two Bengals gave halfhearted tackle attempts, allowing Loveland to break free and go 58 yards for the touchdown with 17 seconds remaining.

COLSTON LOVELAND 58 YARDS! WOW! pic.twitter.com/JRZOV8ih3J

— NFL (@NFL) November 2, 2025

The Bears held on after that for a crazy 47-42 win, one week after the Bengals had a similar collapse in the fourth quarter to the winless Jets. Williams had three touchdown passes and a receiving touchdown on a trick play. It was a huge game in his career path, pulling out a win after it seemed like it would be a devastating collapse.

But just about anyone can look good against the Bengals defense. You don't even need a full minute at the end to make them look bad.

Los Angeles Chargers: The Chargers might have lost on Sunday if they were playing a real NFL team and not the Tennessee Titans. But that's OK. A win in any form isn't bad, especially on the road.

The problem for the Chargers was that they lost offensive tackle Joe Alt again. Alt had his leg rolled up on from behind, and he had to be carted off. The Chargers ruled him out with an ankle injury, which looked bad. When Alt missed time earlier this season with a high ankle sprain, the offense wasn't the same. It was already without offensive tackle Rashawn Slater, who suffered a torn patellar tendon in the preseason.

The Chargers beat a 1-8 Titans team 27-20 on Sunday. But it might end up being a bad day in their season, depending on the news with Alt.

Falcons and their kicker woes: Once you're on the kicker carousel in the NFL, you might stay on it all season.

Early in the season the Falcons cut Younghoe Koo after some costly misses. John Parker Romo replaced him and had been mostly good, but he had a miss Sunday that dearly cost the Falcons.

Drake London scored his third touchdown of the game and it looked like the Falcons would tie the New England Patriots at 24 in the fourth quarter. But Parker Romo missed the extra point. The Falcons never got in position after that to take the lead, and the Patriots were able to run out the clock in the final minutes to secure a 24-23 win.

The Falcons played well enough to beat the Patriots, who are in first place of the AFC East. But kicking problems are a big reason Atlanta is just 3-5 to start the season. It's likely we haven't heard the last of their kicking struggles either.

Green Bay Packers: Maybe Matt LaFleur should have just enjoyed his Halloween.

LaFleur gave a viral and explicit answer when asked about Halloween this week, saying he didn't care about it. But the Packers' effort Sunday didn't show that his extra work during the week was worth it. The Packers were flat, as they've been often this season, and lost 16-13 to the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers were 13-point underdogs and pulled off one of the biggest wins of the season on a field goal with no time remaining. They did so a week after being blown out at home 40-9 by the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills look like they could be a Super Bowl contender and more often than not, the Packers haven't. They had been winning games but often struggled to put away inferior opponents. On Sunday it caught up to them. The Packers' defense wasn't very good and the offense didn't do nearly enough, with Jordan Love having a mostly quiet day. An injury to tight end Tucker Kraft didn't help and is a concern going forward. The Packers have often let bad teams hang around before winning at the end. On Sunday they took a bad loss that will follow them around for the rest of the season.

- Aileen Wuornos murdered at least six men between 1989 and 1990.

- At the time, she engaged in sex work to support herself and her girlfriend, Tyria Moore.

- Moore was instrumental in getting Wuornos to confess to her crimes.

Aileen Wuornos was convicted of murdering six men in Florida between 1989 and 1990. During that time, Wuornos was working as a prostitute to support both herself and her girlfriend, Tyria Moore.

Moore was never implicated in the murders, and she has always insisted she played no part in them. She was, however, instrumental in helping police build a case against Wuornos, who was eventually sentenced to death.

Now, Wuornos' story and her relationship with her ex-girlfriend is back in the spotlight thanks to a new Netflix documentary, *Aileen: Queen of the Serial Killers*. Here's everything we know about Tyria Moore and where she is now.

Who is Tyria Moore?

Wuornos and Moore reportedly came from *very *different worlds. The serial killer was abandoned by her mother and endured a traumatic childhood, which ultimately led to her getting pregnant at 13, dropping out of school, and hitchhiking across the country. As for Moore, a 1991 report in the *South Florida Sun-Sentinel* says she grew up in Cadiz, Ohio, and was raised in a middle-class family.

In 1986, they crossed paths at a gay bar called Zodiac in South Daytona, Fla. Wuornos and Moore, who was in her 20s at the time, hit it off and started dating. They soon moved in together, bouncing between motels and trailers.

"We became lovers, and it later turned into a sister-like relationship," Moore told police, according to the outlet. For her part, Wuornos reportedly described Moore as "the love of my life" and would even tell people Moore was her wife. She allegedly threatened to kill anyone who bothered Tyria.

In *Aileen: Queen of the Serial Killers*, previously unseen jailhouse footage shows Wuornos gushing about Moore. Wuornos said she loved Moore and carried a gun to protect herself so she could stay alive and have "another day breathing with her."

Money was tight throughout their relationship. Moore sometimes worked as a maid, but Wuornos was the main provider, relying on sex work to make ends meet.

"The problem was I wasn't supporting her as richly as she wanted," Wuornos reportedly told police. "She always wanted a brand-new car or a rented one. She wanted clothes, she wanted an apartment with plush furniture."

Did Moore play a role in Wuornos' confession?

Aileen Wuornos in court via 'Aileen: Queen of the Serial Killers'

Yes, she did. Over time, Moore became suspicious of Wuornos, eventually breaking up with her and moving back to Ohio. Investigators contacted Moore in late 1990 after linking Wuornos to a string of murders, hoping she could help them get a confession. She agreed.

Across several phone conversations with Moore, Wuornos confessed to the murders of multiple men. According to PEOPLE, Wuornos told her, "I'm not gonna let you go to jail. Ty, I love you. If I have to confess everything just to keep you from getting in trouble, I will."**

Did Moore testify against Wuornos?

Aileen Wuornos testifying in court via 'Aileen: Queen of the Serial Killers'

Aileen Wuornos testifying in court, as seen in 'Aileen: Queen of the Serial Killers'.

Yes, and Moore ultimately played a pivotal role in Wuornos' 1992 trial for the murder of 51-year-old Robert Mallory. On the stand, Moore revealed that Wuornos had previously told her she shot Mallory to death while the pair were watching TV.

"I didn't believe it," Moore said, per United Press International. "I know I didn't like to hear about her work (prostitution). So I'm sure I didn't want to hear something like that."

Wuornos claimed she killed Mallory in self-defense after he raped her, but Moore testified that there was no mention of an attack.

A jury found Wuornos guilty of Mallory's murder. She later pled no contest or guilty to five additional murders. Ultimately, she was convicted of six counts of first-degree murder and sentenced to death. Wuornos was executed by lethal injection in October 2002, according to a *New York Times *obituary.**

Where is Tyria Moore now?

After testifying against her ex-girlfriend, Moore largely vanished from the public eye. She has since stayed silent about the case and avoided any and all public appearances.

Christina Ricci appeared as Selby Wall, a fictionalized version of Moore, in the 2003 film *Monster*, which explores Wuornos's life and crimes.

Jones recreated Beyoncé's look from the singer's 2024 Christmas Day halftime show — a.k.a. Beyoncé Bowl — with the horse included and cemented her eternal membership to the BeyHive by performing "Texas Hold 'Em" from the history-making *Cowboy Carter* album.

No one is giving out prizes but if they were, Jones definitely took the reins. (See what we did there?)

"I have this 'Mount Rushmore' of women that I admire and this is the last one of the women in my mind," Jones told Today.com ahead of Halloween. "I see it as a tribute to all the women who've poured into me, and they don't even know they have."**

Actress Julia Fox has spoken out in defense of her bloody Jackie Kennedy Halloween costume, after intense online backlash to her outfit that was inspired by the former first lady's image in the immediate aftermath of President John F. Kennedy's 1963 assassination.

Following pushback to the costume, which saw Fox dressed in a pink suit stained with fake blood mirroring the carnage of the day the former president was shot and killed while riding in a car with his wife, the 35-year-old addressed the controversy in an Instagram post on Halloween.

"I'm dressed as Jackie Kennedy in the pink suit. Not as a costume, but as a statement," Fox wrote. "When her husband was assassinated, she refused to change out of her blood-stained clothes, saying, 'I want them to see what they've done.' The image of the delicate pink suit splattered with blood is one of the most haunting juxtapositions in modern history."

Fox called the imagery a mix of "beauty and horror" and "poise and devastation," which are emotions she wanted to channel with the outfit.

"Her decision not to change clothes, even after being encouraged to, was an act of extraordinary bravery," Fox continued. "It was performance, protest, and mourning all at once. A woman weaponizing image and grace to expose brutality. It's about trauma, power, and how femininity itself is a form of resistance."

The star ended her post by writing, "Long live Jackie O," in addition to a heart emoji.

Earlier, Fox shared footage of herself to her Instagram Story, which showed her — as the former first lady — grabbing the breast of performer Linux.

She later shared a story video that showed her posing next to entertainer Joe Hegyes, who was dressed as Mary Todd Lincoln.

"First Ladies Club," Hegyes wrote in the caption of the post.**

Fox's costume drew polarized reactions from people on the internet.

"Wow. I gasped. So inappropriate," wrote digital creator Alison Barker under PEOPLE's Instagram video of Fox's Halloween costume.
