This makes me want to go fishing this weekend.
A fisherman in New Hampshire smashed a state record after catching a gargantuan bluefin tuna.
Meet Brandon McGirl, ladies and gentlemen.
The fisherman joined Savage Charters' Capt. Jamie Savage for a Saturday overnight charter on board the latter's "Out of Line" fishing boat.
For hours, the two were out to sea. Originally, they said it felt like the fish were biting pretty good, but for some reason, every line but theirs was seeing action. (RELATED: Two-Time Major Champion Jon Rahm Exits LIV Golf In Huge Blow To Bankrupt League)
At one point, the guys were ready to give up for the night, when all of a sudden, the reels began clicking. And from there, they chased the fish down for almost a mile.
The massive tuna put up a bit of a fight, ultimately giving up when it was being brought on board. McGirl and Savage dragged the fish back slowly, still not aware of what exactly they had caught.
It ended up being a 1,116-pound bluefin tuna, the biggest tuna ever caught in the waters of New Hampshire. The previous record was set in 2013, coming in 154 pounds less than the new mark.
The tuna is now making its way to market, possibly being sent as far as Japan.
The tail of the tuna is remaining at the harbor, serving as a trophy to represent the record-breaking catch.
Hurricane Isaias (stupid name) might ruin my plans for bites, but I've got to get out there after this.
