A Florida father was discovered dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after allegedly shooting his two young children first.
Authorities identified the victims as 5-year-old Aria Dingwall and 7-year-old Remy Dingwall. The father, 37-year-old Joseph Dingwall, was also discovered deceased in his Cocoa residence on Wednesday, October 7. The Cocoa Police Department stated the case remains under investigation, but they believe Joseph was "responsible for the children's deaths" and have classified the incident as a murder-suicide.
The childrens' mother, Olivia Piccolo, discovered their bodies when she arrived at their father's residence for a custody exchange. She attempted to reach him by phone for their scheduled handover but was unsuccessful, prompting her to go to the residence and knock on the door. It comes after the haunting last photo of man 'obsessed with tigers' who jumped into enclosure came to light.

Police reported the door was slightly open, and she entered to find all of their bodies. Florida Today references an audio recording of the 911 call made public by police Thursday, in which Piccolo describes discovering her children and their father unresponsive and informs dispatchers about a gun at the scene.

Records indicate police had responded to the residence more than 11 times in the past year, and neighbors reported hearing gunshots on the night of the fatal shootings. Piccolo turned to Facebook to share her anguish, posting: "I'm still in shock. You were supposed to be their protector. Their provider. One of their safe places. I'm so angry. But my anger will never ever outweigh my love for my children. From the minute I found out I was going to be a mom, my whole entire life changed.
"I don't have much to say right at this moment but I want everyone to know remy and aria deserved so much more and how proud I was to be their mother. I will always love you and I promise you will be remembered for who you both are not by what happened," she concluded.

A family friend who established a GoFundMe campaign for the family's funeral costs paid tribute to the children, describing Remy as "a strong, kind, and intelligent young boy who loved his video games, music, and friends."
Remy "was in the gifted program at school and excelled at anything he put his mind to. He was a fierce protector of his little sister and his mother. Remy was the kind of boy who made the people around him proud, and he had an entire lifetime ahead of him," wrote Jeanine Rasheed, who describes herself as the mother's best friend.
She further noted that, "Aria was a bright, courageous, and compassionate little girl who loved her squishy dumplings, all animals, and everything pink, just like her mama. She was only five years old, with so much growing, learning, loving, and living still ahead of her.
"Remy and Aria were siblings, best friends, and each other's little world. They should have had the chance to grow up together, make each other laugh, annoy each other, protect each other, and one day look back on their childhood with a lifetime of memories," the fundraising page stated.
