Is Ken Jennings leaving Jeopardy!? The answer is no, but when a fan propositioned him with a question about his replacement, he did not hesitate to give an answer.

During a fan Q&A, which Jennings typically hosts during breaks while filming the game show, a fan asked him who he would want to replace him as a host. “To replace me on Jeopardy!?” he asked in the Instagram video. The host stopped to listen to the audience member and said, “I see, if I go out for a day.”

“Well, you know who has a lot of Jeopardy! hosting experience is Jeff Probst,” Jennings said. “He hosted Rock ‘n Roll Jeopardy! back before he was Jeff Probst.”

“I mean, he now hosts three seasons of Survivor a year, now, I think, so the guy is probably busy.” Before walking away and moving back to his podium, Jennings thought some more about a second possibility. “Also, RuPaul, I think would be pretty good.” This caused the audience to laugh.

After Alex Trebek‘s death in 2020, the game show went through a slew of guest hosts before settling on cohost Jennings and Mayim Bialik. Bialik was dropped as host in December 2023. Before Trebek, Art Fleming hosted for a few seasons. Just like Jennings now, the syndicated hosts did not host the spinoff shows.

Rock ‘N Roll Jeopardy! aired for six seasons from 1998 to 2001. Probst hosted the last season of the game show just as he signed on to the first season of Survivor in 2000. He has also been on two episodes of Celebrity Jeopardy!, so he knows a thing or two about the game show.

RuPaul Andre Charles hosts RuPaul’s Drag Race, which premiered in 2008. During the Trebek-era, RuPaul appeared on the show in drag to present a category.

Trebek then promised he would appear on RuPaul’s Drag Race to repay the favor. He appeared on a screen, reading off clues on the reality show, where the contestant had to fill in the blanks. So, if RuPaul appears on Jeopardy!, could we finally see Jennings’ drag alter ego, Della Double, make an appearance?

“Can RuPaul host Jeopardy! and Ken host Drag Race for a season PLEASE?” an Instagram user asked.

“RuPaul in drag as Ken Jennings,” another wrote.

“What about Ken as a guest judge on Drag Race??” a third wondered.

“Jeff Probst would add a fire challenge,” a fan laughed.

In July 2025, Jennings told us that he has “no plans to hang it up” as host anytime soon. “Traditionally, it’s not a job your retire from,” he said.

Jennings has not missed an episode since becoming the host, but anything can happen. Would you want to see either host mentioned above or someone else fill in for him if he ever had to step away for a day or two? Let us know in the comments.
