The Gist

Carey Mulligan has a knack for pulling off a sharp, sophisticated high-fashion look at nearly every appearance. Just look at her recent ruffled top and wide pants look at a Prada show in March, or this topless plunging blazer moment, and her 1951 Balenciaga-inspired Oscars gown.

For her latest appearance, Mulligan did it again. Attending the Wildwood gala screening on October 11 during the London Film Festival, the actress looked dazzling in a metallic optical illusion Celine two-piece.

Pulling look 65 from creative director Michael Rider’s lineup in Celine’s spring 2027 ready-to-wear collection, she paired the silver metallic silk pleated tunique shirt, which featured long sleeves and a long asymmetric hem, with the matching column skirt that pooled around her feet and caught the light, creating a mesmerizing metallic illusion. She completed the look with diamond drop earrings, which she showed off below her wind-swept blonde wavy lob.

Mulligan provides the voice for the villain Alexandra in the dark children’s fantasy film. “I’ve always wanted to do animation, I’ve always wanted to do a voice,” she said on the red carpet. “I’d really like to play more villains, so that was quite appealing.”

She then gave a shout-out to the “artistry” of the animated film. “It’s such a pure form of cinema and one that I think needs more love and attention.” She added, “I was just so excited to be asked.”
