Take them out to the ball game! The teachers of "Abbott Elementary" are taking a field trip to watch the Philadelphia Phillies run the bases in an upcoming episode. AtSan Diego Comic-Con last month, series creator and star Quinta Brunson revealed that Season 5 would see the "Abbott" cast filming at a live event. "I do think that Philly sports fans will be very happy," she teased, without announcing which team would get the spotlight. Kathy Bates, Quinta Brunson and Britt Lower Make the Case Then, on Thursday, the cast of the Emmy-nominated show was spotted filming at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia while the Phillies took on the Atlanta Braves. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Abbott Elementary (@abbottelemabc) The hit ABC comedy is known for showing love to the city's local sports teams, with cameos from Philadelphia Eagles stars Jalen Hurts, Jason Kelce and Brandon Graham (the NFL players popped up during in the Season 3 premiere, plus the team later brought the Super Bowl trophy to set), as well as a funny Season 2 storyline with the Philadelphia Flyers' mascot Gritty. The Phillies crossover — which was revealed on Monday morning with a photo of the cast posing with team mascot, Phillie Phanatic — came together in collaboration with MLB Studios, the league's creative production arm. "As big fans of the series, MLB Studios initiated outreach to Warner Brothers and subsequently the Phillies to get the shooting process started," a spokesperson for the baseball entity said in a statement. "Collaboration between MLB Studios, the Phillies and the show commenced to shoot a bottle episode on-location at a Phillies game, with a goal of ensuring authenticity and access to the field."
