Former MLB Player Trapped in Dominican Republic Nightclub Collapse
A former Major League Baseball pitcher is reportedly trapped in the Dominican Republic nightclub that collapsed on Tuesday, April 8, killing at least 18 people. Former Houston Astros pitcher Octavio Dotel, who spent 15 seasons in the MLB, is alive, but stuck in the rubble, USA Today reported. The tragedy occurred around 1 a.m., when popular merengue artist Rubby Pérez was performing at the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, as seen in videos shared on X and an interview with Pérez's manager at the scene.
