A TARGET customer has shared their outrage after being told they can no longer use self-checkout due to the store's new policy.

Customers are now facing a limit on the number of items they can scan, but many also believe the traditional registers are understaffed.

A new self-checkout policy at Target is causing annoyance for some shoppers[/caption]

Target began implementing a new 10-item limit at self-checkout registers nationwide in March.

To say the policy has been unpopular among some shoppers would be an understatement, and many have taken to social media to share their grievances.

One recently posted on Facebook after a bad experience at their local Target.

"Target is ridiculous," they wrote.

"Self-checkout kicked me out because I had 12 items rather than the 10 items."

The shopper claimed their store had not been strict about the new policy before but was now enforcing it "all of a sudden."

When they went to a normal register to check out, they were disappointed by the long wait time.

"Then I go in line, wait for five minutes because there is one person working."

The customer did not understand why they could not use self-checkout instead.

"No one was even using self-checkout. I get it if it's packed, but come on."

Others in the comments of the post shared their annoyance with Target's new policy.

"They are getting worse and worse," wrote one. "No one is ever at the registers!"

Another said, "I think self-checkouts need to be banned"

MORE SELF-CHECKOUT COMPLAINTS

The 10-item limit is not the only new policy at Target that shoppers are angry about.

In February, Target confirmed that some stores would reduce the hours its self-checkout registers are open.

"Target closing their self-checkout has made going to Target quite unbearable," said one on X.

In April, Target launched its first-ever paid membership program, Target Circle 360.

Some claimed it had also made the wait for the regular registers even longer.

"My local Target closed the self-checkout lines so it was back to waiting an eternity to get checked out," another X user posted.
