A thrifter scored this Staub Dutch oven for $400 less than its retail price[/caption]

A thrift store shopper has revealed how they found an expensive cast iron Dutch oven at Goodwill.

Posting on the Reddit community r/castiron, they shared a photo of a Staub pot they had bought at the thrift store for just $13.

"This one has a little crud on the outside, and the bottom of the inside was slightly tarnished," they said.

However, it had not been hard to restore the French-made piece to perfect condition.

"Five minutes of elbow grease, and two quick rounds in the oven with grape seed oil, and it's good as new."

Staub pots and pans are so expensive because they are handmade from high-quality cast iron and ceramics.

The lucky finder shared a tip for others looking to score bargain kitchenware at thrift stores.

"Small town Goodwill is definitely the ticket," they wrote.

The buyer said they find the bargain at a small-town Goodwill[/caption]

"City stores are way too picked over, and so much goes to the auction website. Scored this piece in a town of 10k."

The buyer assumed "someone in the backroom at Goodwill messed up" in pricing the piece so low.

WHAT'S COOKING?

But it's far from the first time a thrift store shopper has found luxury kitchen goods at a bargain price.

Another Redditor said they found a Le Creuset Fondue Pot for just $10.

Much like Staub, Le Creuset is a French brand renowned for its high quality but equally high prices.

New, the pot would have cost them $380.

The lucky buyer revealed they had been able to take advantage of a special offer at the thrift store.

"It was marked for 30 bucks. It was a discount day for small kitchen appliances, so I got a huge discount on it!" they wrote.

Other thrift shoppers have come across wildly valuable items in the past

Another thrifter came across six different Le Creuset pots and pans priced between $9 and $25 each.

One commented: "Looks like they're all practically new."

The shoe racks at thrift stores are another popular place to pick up bargains, including this $18 pair of Nike's that were worth $130.

And see how one shopper made $250 in one day by reselling a single pair of thrifted boots.
